I read someones opinion of the meals on Virgin, the person thought them really bad.( maybe we better take sandwiches)

I thought it may be interesting to get some opinions on Airline meals.
Which Airline, what was your choice of meal, what was the quality like!!!!

I liked the food I had with Virgin last summer but that was only because I was lucky enough on each flight to get to a choice. It was very hot and seemed fresh enough. The kids meals were disgusting to my children as neither of them like baked beans which had been served in the same tray as the pizza and chips thus contaminating them too. The other bits and pieces - rolls etc. kept them happy.

I know it's easier to serve the kids first but I personally would have liked us all to eat at the same time - it encourages the children to eat and there's more potential for swapping parts of the meal.

Next time I'll take a few snacks just in case, but I was generally satisfied with what we got.

Libby

P.S. I've been known to eat school dinners and hospital food!

The only bad meal we had with Virgin was just after 9/11 - to this day I don't understand their excuse for that being the reason the food was not up to standard. Last year the food was good (as good as you get for airline meals anyway).

On my business trips where I use alternative airlines I can recommend AA as being reasonable but all others including BA as being inedible. I normally have something to eat at the airport and take a chocolate bar on board.

I flew with Virgin to Las Vegas last year and I thought the food was really good for an airline. We had plenty of choice and the food was good quality on both flights. I had no complaints at all.

We flew out with JMC, I thought the food was very good, we flew Back with Airtours\Mytravel, theres was bearable.

I have to say, i'll pretty much eat anything

(you would understand if you lived with my misses)

I have to agree with Dimplenose DH's and myfood was pretty good, but our DD's food was disgusting and totally inedible. Somebody had been a little over zealous when heating the food up, it was way too dried up.

Floridalol, I am glad to hear that AA is ok. We are flying with them at the end of Nov. Nevertheless we will be taking some of our own food. I do not trust airlines to offer decent food!

Never had a problem with food on Virgin. The opposite in fact.

I dont think you will need to take sandwiches ;)

No problems here with Virgin, infact I think it was last year when they really impressed us with a Chicken Tikka includig mini naan bread.
Other than that the exras meals such as sandwiches and mufins are always good plus the ice cream, we had a lovely raspberry split on the way out this year and mini Hagen Daaz 'Mmmmm' chocolate tub on the way back.

We have never had a problem with the food on Virgin either.

last time I had salmon and noodles and Nic had roast beef and veg.

Now a few years back the sandwiches they gave out were terrible. The tuna with olives was the worst. Almost felt the need to wipe my tongue off on the carpet.

Sandwiches are nice and normal now.:p

Yum Ice cream :) We had good food with United last year. This year we are with Virgin too :)

I always expect airline food to be disgusting, so it's normally been a surprise with Virgin when it's been edible. This year when we went to St Lucia we had the best - and worst - of both worlds. Being upgraded to Upper Class on the way out meant fantastic food - the main meals, nibbles "afternoon tea (freshly cooked cream scones and freshly prepared sarnies) everything was superb. Coming back in PE we had a choice of vegetable curry or chicken and mash. I opted for the chicken and mash - as did DD and DH - and we all agreed it was the worst food we'd ever had on any airline. Yuek. But that's unusual with Virgin, there's normally something nice.

Cathay Pacific was my fave - either Chinese or English food, all very nicely presented. When we flew from Hong Kong to Manilla, we even got proper bacon, egg and sausage with them - and a hash brown that hadn't exploded into soggy yukkiness;)

I agree with Libby about Virgin's kid's meals - my DD hasn't touched them for two years now since she had soggy pizza and baked beans.

Never had the need to take anything more than a small pot of pringles for DD and DH to nibble on, we must be easy to please:p

We have travelled with Virgin twice and will be with them again in 5 weeks :Pinkbounc yes - just a tad excited! ;)

We always take sandwiches with us, and if we don't need them we just leave them on the 'plane. I am veggie and have had good and bad meals with them, once they gave me a vegan meal because I don't eat curry, which was the veggie item. How do vegans live??? It was absolutely tastless, like chewing cardboard!

The kids tend to pick out the bits they like of their meals and do generally end up eating some of the sandwiches.

The nicest meals we have had were with BA - a cooked breakfast when we were travelling to Paris, and absolutely gorgeous sandwiches when we flew back from Jersey.

Ive never liked airline meals! Im not that of a good flyer i have to admit.
When we've flown with virgin,i seem to always pick the awful meal! we had bbq chicken, smelt lovely (suprisingly),but tasted awful!! we also had vegetable curry it was YUK YUK YUK.
Dp will eat anything so he eat all of his,and his snacks, DD had smiley faces with beans going, and somekind of pasta dish, the pasta had been overcooked,or heated too much and it was dry needless to say she didnt eat it!

I packed sandwiches going this time, as its good just having them there for just in case ;)
