Two in our travel party will be unable to cruise next month due to an unexpected medical emergency. Have any of you had any luck changing passenger names on am American Airlines flight itinerary?

I'm not sure you can change names on an airline ticket.

Eek. I haven't tried, but to be honest, I'll be pretty shocked if they accommodate that request. I agree with Shmoo, for one thing. But also, they're awful about changing ANYthing on your res - they might charge change fees that are as much as the plane tix themselves. I say this as someone who's flown AA for 20 years regularly: if we suspect we might have to change a date/time, we book Southwest.

If the other 2 have trip insurance, I would go that route to get reimbursed, and just buy new tix for the 2 people now going.

I agree....I had no problem changing names in our stateroom when one in our party could not do the cruise about a month in advance but I have never know airlines to do name changes. I also think it may be better for them to cancel the air and rebook the new people.

Rarely will airlines change names on tickets.

If they do allow you, you will have to pay the change fee. Typically $200-$250

Name changes are not allowed. I've tried. You need to cancel the ticket and the value minus the change fee will be available for a year for the person on the original ticket. If you need another ticket for a different person you need to buy a new ticket.
