VENT ON!

I haven't paid for an airline ticket in a while (used FF miles and other promos) but now I'm kinda stuck buying on because of a change that USAir made to their FF program since the last time I used it. It's hard finding anything less than $300 RT from Philly to MCO on the days I already scheduled for vacation. (April 21-29). I may have to change it to leave and return midweek.

vent off...

That's during April vacation for us so airfare is UP. I bought months ago when JetBlue first released their fares. One year - the last we went through a travel agent - we had to pay over $600/pp to get to Florida for our Disney cruise...talk about sticker shock! :faint:

Hope you can find a good price!

Jill

John, have you thought about ACY? I just found a flight for thos days on Spirit for 262? the times kinda suck though. late afternoon departure and late morning take off from MCO.

I just checked the airtran website and I can get it from them for $227 (total) but expedia gave me a price of $288. I used airtran in November and the service was great but they configured their planes with narrow seats and less leg room. I suppose I can suffer a little before I get to WDW!

southwest..$270 (after taxes and fees, etc). An 8 pm arrival into orlando, and then you leave orlando at 8 pm the 29th to return to philly.

Thanks Tim but I checked the airtran website and they have $99 each way fares which puts the same flights from them using direct booking at $227 vs. $288 using expedia. I think I'll take the airtran.

Ohh totally forgot about them! Oh wait...I'm pretty sure I have a credit with them...I'll never fly with them since I get discounts with Contential..I wonder if i can give it to you?

I feel your pain...I haven't found anything under $1000 for the three of us from maine to orlando during that week either. Dh says no way he's paying that much. Last year we didn't have to deal with school vacations and flew $59 each way via Southwest. Phooey.

Is this a busy week? When is Easter? If it's busy, I'll change my dates.

That's the same week we are going. Have you checked flying out of Atlantic City. That was the cheapest fare I could find. We ended up booking out of LaGuardia and are paying over $800 for 3! Still better than the $1000+ out of Newark.

That's the same week for us too and all I can find is  prices out of St. Louis.

If I can't find something reasonable, we will drive :sad2: I hate driving that far :sad2: I have NO PATIENCE!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and checking on sidestep.com a few times a day :confused3

I think it may be spring break for a lot of people. Ours is the 9 - 13th of April, I think the whole month could be considered "Spring break" schools somewhere are going to be off every week.

Keep an eye out--I wasnt finding anything for 4/21-28--everything was over $300 close to $400. I thought for sure we would have to drive.

I was even checking all the NYC area airports plus Philly thinking we could do the hotel thing and leave the car there(Phil) and deal with the 1 1/2 hour drive.

The other day I saw JetBlue from JFK to MCO for $99 each way.
I had to wait until DH got his vacation approved and by then it was $99 going down and $124 coming home, but still a much better deal than I had been seeing, so I grabbed it.
They went up again $174 and $134 now, but if they went down once they can go down again!

Holy cow. The price range sure can differ!! We can go on multiple airlines for $199 RT from Phoenix. Alaska Airlines is almost $1300! How the heck can prices be so different!?

Thanks for that sidestep site!

for my trip in may, i am flying out of Atlantic City--i ended up getting 113.60 round trip..good luck finding a good fare

Well the drive from the Phila. area isn't that bad.

Actually why don't you priceline it and see if you can name your own price.
Also, did you check leaving from Atlantic City, Lancaster of Harrisburg, or Allentown? Sometimes that could be a bit less.

Southwest did have $59 each way airfares. Now I think they have gone up some and the lowest airfare is $72 to $90 each way.

I actually think airfare prices are pretty reasonable it's all the dang extra fees they charge!

I paid about $140 RT to MCO on SWA last month... leaves from Philly.
