Airfare went down....Finally

Just had to share… I’ve been stalking the airline sites and discount airfare web sites. The fares have been staying around $350.00 for the last few months. (around the last five…not that I’m obsessive about paying less) Yesterday afternoon I was able to get our airfare for $232.90….. woo hoo ! ! !

American Airlines, Heather. I don’t know if everyone here is aware that Expedia (et all) will buy bulk seats at a discount then put them on their site. They have good fares for July, August, September and October on the site.

Northwest came down a little too! We got Round-trip from Cedar Rapids (a typically expensive airport ) for 348 ea. That is CHEAP for around here.

Our airfare price also dropped today to $183 per person, American Airlines DEN-MCO through Orbitz for 12/15 to 12/25. AA website was still showing $420+ for the same flights so I jumped on this deal.

Last month someone posted a deal on the transportation board for $120+ and I just missed it. I found it on the Orbitz site, then when I was trying to buy it, I got a "no longer available" message.

The good deals seem to go fast, I'm just glad I went online this evening. $183 per person is great from Colorado, we paid $252 each for our May/June trip!

Are most of the deals going to be on Orbitz, Travelocity etc. Do they give better deals than going directly through the airlines?

Ata is having a great deal too. i paid $594 for a family of 4 RT from indy to orlando so thats $148pp.

We managed to get R/T out of Atlantic City to Orlando non-stop for $127... thats the least we've ever paid.

lkohawaii, the travel search engines such as Orbit, Expedia etc. buy airline tickets in bulk for a cut rate. Usually (not always) by being diligent you can get a better rate from them. This seems to work best when airfares are up.

Northwest dropped a bit for the flight I wanted!! I figured I'm saving $15 x 5 people...$75 is nothing major but I'll take it!! $233 flying Toledo to Orlando at the times I wanted. I'll be there early enough to book a meal at a hotel.
