WWDD = What Would the DISers Do?

You can count me among the throngs of DISers who were drastically disappointed in JetBlue's fares around late March/early April. We have never had to purchase our tickets for Easter break - we've always been fortunate enough to use DH's airline frequent flier points. So we are new to the whole Airfare Roulette extravaganza! :-)

For those who consider themselves travel savvy when it comes to getting the "best fares possible," I'm wondering: Should we just suck it up and buy now or should we wait?

Quick info:
Traveling from EWR (preferred - would consider PHL) to MCO
Departing March 30(ish) to April 5(ish) - we're flexible by a day or two
Will not fly on Southwest
Will not layover

Please don't flame me for those "will nots" above. We have our reasons for them - as we all do, right? :-) I know that in order to get the best prices we should consider them - but we just can't. So we know we won't get the best prices - we're just looking for better options than we have now.

United's fares out of EWR are crazy high - there are a couple USAir flights out of PHL that aren't great logistically but that are reasonable from a cost perspective. I was so hoping JetBlue was going to be at least reasonable - but they weren't. Most JetBlue fliers seem to think that their fares will come down. But waiting makes me so nervous! I was thinking that maybe when Southwest releases their fares for Easter that perhaps JetBlue would have to come down in order to be competitive?

So what do you think, DIS travelers: What are the odds that airfare will come down at all in the coming months? If I check the fares every day will it pay off? Or will I just see the cost go up and up and up - pricing us out of our vacation altogether?

It's hard to answer this question because you didn't mention what you consider a reasonable fare. Since you are willing to fly from EWR or PHL, what about checking prices from JFK and LGA as well?

Does "will not layover" mean you only want a non-stop flight?

Last year when we were faced with high spring break fares, we booked Monday to Saturday and that saved us alot on the airfare. I'm seeing you can get EWR to MCO on JetBlue for about $300/pp going April 1 - 6. Not the lowest I've seen by any means, but seems not so bad to me for around Easter break but I'm not sure what you define as reasonable. Good luck.:goodvibes

Air fare is nuts right now I am starting to look at making trip to the world with some friends. looked at few site...so far i am thinking about$800 for ONE person round trip. even look airport two hrs from me. But that means taking 2 more days off work, not paid.
