Airfare question

Hey, can anyone recommend a good travel agent who is known for getting REALLY good airfare deals? I need cheap airfare out of Dallas to Orlando coming up pretty soon. My cruise is in less than a month! I spoke to the reservations lady at American, and she said if I book with a travel agent, they alot of times can get great rates because they buy large blocks of seats for certain flights. So, if anyone knows anything about this, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

I'm not sure your dates, but ... I did a quickie check on www.airtran.com and www.delta.com and it looks like you can still find some flights in the $215 range.

I would be out of my mind if I was leaving in 20 days and still didn't have airfare. Good Luck.

Well, we're not too worried. We drove last time, and we will drive again if we can't find good rates. I'm hoping for last minute bargains, and if not, we are prepared to drive it again. I'd just SO love to just get there in 2 hours versus driving for 18 hrs !!!

Many travel agents are "out" of the airline ticket business b/c of the non exisistant commissions. Most charge fees to book air. The AA person may have been refering to "consolidators", companies that buy blocks and sell them. I used one once many years ago (before the internet) b/c it was the best price I could find at the time. Now I would recommend surfing the net & checking lots of sites (such as bestfrares, farechase, smarterliving, too many to list)

Does your local paper have a Travel Section? A lot of agents that specialize in low air fares advertise in those sections.
Key to cheap airfare is the same as getting a lower prices on a Disney cruise, book early. I'm leaving tomorrow due to a family emergency and paid $625 dollars for a ticket that normally costs about $320. I normally book 90 days in advance, this time I booked 4 days in advance. Ouch.
