How long ahead should I book flights? We are going to WDW in October, staying at BWV on rented points. There are flights available for early morning incoming and late evening outgoing, which are perfect for us. I just fear if I book now, one or both flights might get cancelled. How long in advance do the airlines cancel?

If the price is right I would book them. You could eventually book with SW and get a good price. I like them because they are so flexible about changing flights. But if the price is right and its the flights you want go for it. I have never had a flight canceled so can't really advise on that part. Good Luck

Thanks very much. I was looking at Airtran, I was cancelled once before on an outgoing flight, so I was a little concerned.

i always try to look for the flight im interested in booking w/AT in the months that lead up to my date to see if it's on their schedule; may give you an idea of whether it's one that 'sticks'

I always book very far in advance. PP is right, if you are happy with the price book it now. If they cancel your flights, which is a possibility, they will move you to a flight you are happy with (assuming there are flights with the correct times). I have had Airtran also cancel with no penalty, when the flight they moved me to was not what I wanted.

Thank you very much everyone for your replies! I decided to book the air today:banana: Ah, the fun of planning a WDW vacation, just not looking forward to credit card bill for airfare for 4.

Buy on a dip, unless your travel dates are extremely popular like going home on Sunday after Thanksgiving in which case you should buy at IPO (initial public offering, sometimes 332 days in advance).

It is a good idea to survey airfares for a few months before buying to find out whether you are really hitting a fare sale.

i always book airfare far in advance. I book whenever i feel ok with the price of the ticket. You never know if your going to get that price again. I know with jet blue if the price drops they will give you the diff in the form of a credit.
