Airfare Help - When to Buy for October

I got the e-mail for the $49 rate at the value resorts and we couldn't pass it up so yesterday we decided to go for just 3 nights in the beginning of October.

We want to leave October 1 (Friday) from Milwaukee and come back on the 4th. It seems that Friday fares are usually higher. Also Non-stop is important to us.

Northwest had a nonstop flight at $160 the night before we decided to go, the next day it was up to $210

leaving on different dates is not a good option for us, and even though the fares are lower if we leave on different dates we would need to stay a week or more (also not an option)

So any opinions on whether we should buy now, or is there a good chance for some lower fares anytime in the next 1 - 2 months? I just worry it will keep going up.

Does northwest have a rebooking charge?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks!

I don't know any specific info about Northwest but I have noticed that airfares seem to go down in the middle of the week and go up towards the weekend. If I were you, I would keep checking daily at different times and book when you are comfortable with the price.
I've learned from the boards that most airlines give back the discount in the form of a voucher or in an account without a charge.

Also, are there any other airline you could use. Southwest, Spirit, Deltasong, and Jetblue seem to have very low fares.

Have fun in Disney :earsgirl:

HI-

we are looking the same flight on NWA also...only our dates are nov 29th - dec 4th ( mon- sat) same with us.....nwa has the same flight out teh day before and IF ( we cant) we could go the day before, instead of $205 R/T (right now) we could get R/T for 183 on travelocity :Pinkbounc

i am searching once per week at this point....i figure i will keep watching until the end of Sept, and then i will have no choice but to pay the $205 r/t.

ps....midwest airlines also has non stop ( a must for us also) but they are even higher, 223 $ r/t last ime i checked  hope we get some good deals out of MKE soon!

It always seems to me that I find the lowest airfares on Tuesdays, sometimes they stay that rate sometimes its only for that day-JMO.

We're also going in October and we bought our airline tickets over 2 weeks ago and we've already put a deposit down on CSR. Don't mind me, I always book way in advance.

Thanks everyone for the advice! :teeth: we're going to wait it out and hope for some price drops. If not, oh well -- we're still going! ::yes::

I forgot to mention we are going 6-11 Oct, and just bought our tickets this past Tuesday!

Don't know if you can grab an ATA flight. Friends booked last night (Sat.) and got 125.00 RT from Midway for late October.

Just wanted to say Thanks again!

We waited and today just like Dcat2u and sammy66 said the price went back down to $160 non-stop with Northwest! :teeth:
We saved $80 and the hassle of a connecting flight.
