We just decided to go to Orlando during the Christmas season. I realize airfare is going to be a little higher during that time. I did a quick search through Expedia and we can get United flights out of Edmonton for $860 per person.

I'd love to fly Westjet but the connections are awful. Most are a 4 hour plus layover in Toronto. Air Canada is not an option.

What do you think -- I doubt if I wait that I'd get them cheaper?

A second question -- would you fly through Denver or Chicago at that time of year. I'm kind of thinking of snowstorms, etc. There's a continental flight going through Houston that I would rather take but it's $1017 per person.

We went from Edmonton last Christmas (Dec 21-30) and since I booked WDW over a year in advance, I had lots of time to watch for fares. I ended up getting flights (on United through Aircanada.com- saved around $400 this way) for the four of us for around $2300. I believe I bought our flights in Feb or March. After that I didn't see as low a fare again.

We're not going this year but I have peeked at the fares a few times and they are indeed quite a bit higher, around $3100 was the best I could see for four seats. Most experts say this is because airlines now have fewer planes and they are flying full flights. As always if it's a fare that *you* can live with grab it! It's possible that that $860 pp is the best you'll see- how comfortable are you with gambling on the prices going down?

Your second question is easy, avoid Chicago connections if at all possible. They'll tempt you with slightly lower fares but Denver is the best way to go by far. You may also need to change terminals at ORD. Denver is dead easy, your flight from Edmonton will come in at one end of the terminal and you'll (usually) have enough time to leisurely walk down to your next gate grabbing a bite along the way if needed.

Good luck!:)
