We are looking at flying from Providence to Orlando in May. The price is $79 for our dates, which is good. What do you think the chances are of the price dropping? When would it happen if it will? Last year my SIL bought tickets for May and her price later dropped to $49 but I don't remember what month this happened. What are the chances? Thanks!

I am guessing from your location (Flying out of PVD) and the prices ($79 & $49) you are talking about SWA. The absolute best thing about SWA is that if you book now, and the price drops, you can re-book and receive full credit for the difference to be used on future SWA flights.

I personally would book the $79 and then see what happens.

Good Luck

prices usually bounce, but many times they bounce up. if they are $79 it may be your best bet to get them now. we wathced our april tickets for months. they were at 139 and 159 each way, they finally dropped to $69 one way, and $119 another, so we got them, now a week later they are up to $159 each way. we are also going in oct, last week they were $69 each way, and now they are $69 one way, and $119 another.. so unless they are already high, they usually start to go up.

I work for an airline in reservations. Our policy on lower fares after purchasing depends on where you purchased the tickets. If you bought them thru us(ie, our website or calling reservations)we will give you the difference in the form of a voucher, as long as the price is lower with us in reservations. If you bought it on line somewhere else(expedia, orbitz, etc) we won't do it if it's lower.

Which airline do you work for? I know SWA is very generous with their voucher policy, while many others are not.

I work for United.

Independence dropped this morning....wow. $49 each way out of Dulles to Orlando. That is a great fare for the spring. It is good until early June, with some blackout over the Easter weekend. Has to be booked by next week. I have found that when there is a drop at one airline, the others usually follow suit. I usually fly United/TED, but will consider FlyI at this rate. Just hope they are around in May to honor my price.

I haven't seen any drop yet for continental leaving from newark, nj to orlando. Has anyone else seen any drop?

There are a couple of CO routes from DTW to MCO (through CLE, not EWR) that dropped significantly during President's week.
