Hi All! I've been trying to hold out for a SW Ding but I saw today I can get a round trip flight from RDU to MCO (Raleigh to Orlando) for 180 total w/ taxes and all--$90 each way w/ taxes.

What do you guys think of this price??? Low enough or should I hold out of for a Ding??? It had been pricing at about $225.

I just don't know how long the DING could be and if it's worth holding out and risking the flight times I want getting booked up at the lower prices... :confused3

Opinions???

Thanks!!!
Stacie

If you're flying out of RDU, I haven't seen a decent RDU-MCO Ding in a long time (other than the Halloween few the other day). I think it was the beginning of Sept. when I got our Oct.-Nov. Dings for $54 or $59/OW. Since then, the Dings for those travel dates have been @ $70-79 :scared1: .
I recently got our Jan.-Feb. fares at $84/OW, and I'm hoping for a good Ding, but I'm definitely not counting on it. :sad2:

Those days of $24-39/OW Dings are history................. So if you're okay with the current prices, buy the tickets. And if a great Ding does come along, you'll have TTFs towards your next trip.:thumbsup2

Thanks!!! We don't normally fly so this whole price watching for flights is new to me!!!

What does /OW mean???

Thanks!

You also might want to book your flights as OW's rather than RT.....since if you do manage to snag a good Ding it's possible it will only be for one portion of your trip and you may not be able to take advantage of it because you won't be able to cancel your RT without affecting the other portion.

ITA with DonnaL...............book your fares one-way! (Sorry I left that important info out of my earlier post :sad2: )

Ok, so to make sure I understand... If I book each flight one-way, then if a DING comes out, I can cancel that portion and book the DING. I assume I will just get a SW Credit for future flights, or will they actually credit my card back?

Do I end up paying more in taxes and stuff that way?

Thanks!

That's correct.......you will get a SW credit for future use unless the original fare you booked is a more expensive, fully refundable fare....in that case you can get a refund. Also, if a Ding does comes out one trick to use when cancelling the original fare and rebooking the Ding is to open two windows on your screen.........first window complete all the info for the Ding up to the point where payment is required......second window is used for cancelling the old fare......your ticketless travel funds will immediately be available to use for the Ding.........this way it's only a second or two between the two reservations.....it's never happend to me, but, I have heard some say you can lose the Ding fare in the amount of time it takes to cancel/rebook if you take your time.
