Air Transat Holidays - online check-in?

Is anyone here familiar with the Air Transat Holidays online-checkin process? We've just booked an all-inclusive trip out of Toronto with Air Transat Holidays. I understand that you have to pay to pre-select our seats on the plane. Hubby said he has already paid enough money, and won't pay for this too! I also read that they have online check-in at the 24hr mark before your flight. Does anyone know if you can select your seats (free of charge) at that time? Is this a new thing? I've never checked in online for a flight out of Toronto before, so any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm flying with Air Transat in a couple of weeks and posed the same question to my travel agent, as I didn't want to pay the fee either! She indicated that you can select your seat, free-of-charge, 24 hours ahead during the on-line check in process.

We just flew Canjet (booked Air Transat) for a flight Toronto to MCO.
On line check in was not an option for anyone. I even phoned the airline because the web site wasn't allowing our check in - the rep told me all passengers must check in at the airport. ( It was VERY busy - make sure you allow 1 1/2 hours for a 6:30AM flight).

You may check in online between 24 hours and 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight. SO LONG AS, it is not a codeshare flight, ex. Canjet, Westjet.

Yes, seat selection is payable in advance, up until Reserve your seat when purchasing your tickets, up to:

* 2 days prior to departure for flights departing from Canada, for most destinations;
* 3 days prior to departure for flights departing from all European cities;
* 5 days prior to departure for flights operated by Thomas Cook Airlines



I know there is a cost, and about 70% of passengers do this, so if you are not doing it, my suggestion is arrive at the airport AS SOON as the check incounter opens. These passengers who do it, have priority.
