Air Tran Visa A+ rewards, HELP!

How does this Air Tran A+ rewards work? Should I tranfer a balance over to this card for points or shop or use only for airline tickets? I'm hoping to get enough points for a ticket by March 2008. Is Easter/Spring Break a blackout time?

I don't think I'd transfer balances without doing some serious math to figure the difference between the interest rate you're currently paying and the AirTran Visa rate, including the transfer fees. I got the no annual fee card and received 4 credits for my first purchase. I think I charged something for $10 and paid it off. There are blackout periods around Easter, so you'd need to be flexible with your dates and watch for schedule releases. There are only a set number of reward seats available and Florida flights go fast, especially that time of year.

We have the card - usually you get charged a lot when you transfer a balance (interest I mean) - the thing with this airline is they don't just throw out so many seats 300 days before - you have to call back and keep checking as they throw in seats here and there. It can be kind of frustrating and the odds of spring break are probably not high as they can sell out those planes. I would try the capitol one travel card - my friend has it and they got four tix on airtran two months before peak week. They give you a dollar amount you can use on any airline. a bit more flexible.

i'm not sure if balance transfers count toward the rewards, think it's only purchases.

We have to keep calling to get them credited to AT rewards account; takes a minimum of 1 cycle after the end of month they're earnings are posted to credit card until AT receives them @ the earliest.

It's a bear trying to use the credits. Used to be the seats were available when the schedule opened up; now they tell me they don't open them until they sell a certain percentage of the seats

After calling everyday for the last 6 months, I was just able to use 2 vouchered seats for return flight (connecting) from MCO to PIT on July 1 . Downside is 1 had to buy 1 tix @ cost of $190. Cancelled my SW flights already booked & shall use the funds for next Dec.

Believe i'm a new SW ONLY customer; just too much trouble to jump thru the hurdles to earn/utilize vouchers w/AT.
