Air Tran Reservation

I just checked my Air Tran reservation for December. They added links for each persion on the reservation to add your birth date. They were not there last week. Is your birthdate required now?

Yes, it is part of the TSA "secureflight" program and the airlines are just catching up with their computer programs

Hmm...my flight's in a week and I didn't know anything about this. This is the first time in YEARS that I've actually bought a ticket (since DH is a pilot we usually non-rev but with the kids and Orlando we decided to buy tix this time).

Should we have received an email to update this? And if our kids don't have to carry ID why would we have to do this for them?

Don't worry, not all airlines are in compliance and the TSA can't even force them to comply. The airlines are supposed to get your full name, including middle, and your date of birth. I don't know what other airlines have started to comply I know Delta hasn't as of yet as that is who I am flying

I noticed we had those links a few days ago. I went ahead and clicked them and filled out the blanks needed. But each day i check our flights for changes they are back again asking for the same info.

I have not been notified by Air Tran that the information is mandatory. I also have not updated our reservations with each traveler's birth date. Until I hear from them, I am going to leave our reservation as it currently exists.

I checked our itinerary today since our flight is on Thursday. It said that my DOB is required at least 72 hours prior to departure. Hmmmm...they never asked for it before AND it is listed in my profile information. I clicked on the link and my DOB was already filled in. I just hit "update" and it appeared on my itinerary. Weird...

WE booked our Nov and Dec reservations before there was even spot to put your birthdates.
WE have not received anything to say we have to update our reservations.
I know people who booked after the time where you had to enter your birthdates and if you didn't enter them it would say you have to do it at least 72 hrs before you fly.
Nothing has ever been said about the reservations that were booked before the time where birtdates were required.
So don't know if we need to do anything else!!!!!

AirTran is one of the first airlines that will be compliant with the new secureflight and they are planning to go live at the end of October. If you are flying before the end of October then there will be no issue if your reservation does not have your full name or your date of birth.

If you are flying out after October then if you can go into your reservation and provide the information then you are helping them out. If your reservation does not have the required information 72 hours in advance of your flight then Airtran will try to contact you to obtain the information before you check-in.

If you reservation still does not have the required information then you will just need to provide the information before you can actually checkin for your flight by providing the information to a checkin agent. I am not sure how this will affect online checkin if you do not have your information in your reservation so I guess we will have to wait and see once this goes "live".
