I am forced to fly Air Tran for a last minute trip from PHL to MCO. Going down for a college campus tour (Nov 16-18). My dh and dd booked a week ago. I was unable to get off from work at that time----but managed to get the day off yesterday so I went to add a ticket for me. Their flight times are no longer available, but Air Tran has availability with very similar times and cheaper too.

I have been pretty loyal to SW over the years and love their cancellation policy. I searched a couple AT posts and saw they charge a $50 cancellation fee from what others have posted.

However, I'm on their website now, ready to book and I see a $75 fee mentioned ? Anyone know if it increased ? And is the money available for a full year, same as SW ?

Thank you.........

hi mia

yes, they raised it to $75 to change the tix:sad2:

rarely do you receive a refund, only on certain classes of full-fare tix

the way they change flight times, if they tinker with it; you'd be entitled to a refund/credit/different flight; depending on how much you "fuss":rolleyes1 and whether you've signed up for their rewards program...meaning you can speak to a different customer service person & get a bit more leeway. Note; you'd need to do this before you book the ressie.

the credits are good for 1 year from date of original booking

Thanks so much for the info Keishashadow :thumbsup2

I did sign up for the rewards program prior to booking. I did end up getting my SW flight on the way home----it was there at midnight last night.......gone at 1 am....gone at 6 am.....and it popped back up at 8 am !

But.....I did hav to book Airtran going to Orlando. It was $70 cheaper one-way then the SW flight of similar depart time.

So I doubt I'll be cancelling my AT flight down, but was curious about how they would handle it. I think the $75 is a bit steep, but I suppose it's better than what some airlines do---and that is nothing. I did end up paying $7.50 extra to pick a seat. I wasn't sure how the boarding policy was with Airtran either.

Thanks again !
