Hey all, Due to some ongoing health issues I have had to cancel my Jan 31st through Feb 7th trip, Besides being totally bummed I am very confused.
It was my understanding that Air Tran did not refund airfare but gave you a credit which may be used up to 1 year after booking original flight. So I called tonight to cancel my flight and they refunded my credit card the full amount.
Not that I am complaining mind you I am thrilled but I wonder how they determine who to refund and who to not refund. Maybe it depends on how many fares you booked or maybe I just got lucky. Anyone have any ideas?

Wow---lucky you. I cancelled a flight last week with Air Tran and was charged the $50.00 fee and the remaining balance will be kept in my account as a credit for up to a year. Curious as to how you were able to get the refund.

You may have purchased fully refundable fare. Usually a bit pricier, but it does have its advantages on occasion... like yours!

:)

When my mom passed away in the fall of 2005, we had a trip planned with Air Tran tickets. I called them and explained what happened, I offered to send them a copy of the death certificate. They said that was not necessary, they fully refunded my mom's ticket. But they would not refund mine, it had to go as a credit on file with a $50 change fee to be paid at the time of reticketing. I did have cancellation insurance, so I filed a claim with them to get my money back.
