Air Tran Airlines-Any good? Never have flown them. Should I worry?

Heck.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why ANYONE would buy airline stock.

Now, I think that AirTran is going to have some "bumpy" moments. But thier route structure is somewhat better a lot of the 'low cost' airlines. Having ATL as a hub helps them. They can raise fares right along with DL.

However, I would not be surprised to see ANY of them cut routes that aren't making money, cut flights etc. As a matter of fact I think that cutting flights is step one to making money. Reduce supply, and raise prices....

Flown Airtran a couple of times and always had good luck

We have flown Airtran for the past several years and have never had a problem.......knock on wood. They did change the flight times slightly but we were advised by email way ahead of time. My MIL and FIL had a bad experience flying up to visit us last year. My MIL was in a wheel chair and they expected her to walk on the plane with a broken ankle! They ended up being upgrated to first class on the way back for all the aggravation!

That's a good point. Seems like some folks are just bent on making those of us with AirTran tickets feel terrible

I posted a thread over on the budget boards about Air Tran dropping their prices on a flight I was looking for at for our Sept trip. I bought those tickets a lot cheaper than I could get them on any other airline. All this talk about them dropping their prices for quick cash flow, ect. makes sense to me but here's what I think.

I noticed that the flights I wanted were off times. I am from FL and fly into MCO regularly (on Air Tran btw) so I fly in a few days earlier than my "vacation at disney" starts. Therefore, I fly down in the afternoon 3ish and return on early morning flights, 7-8ish, because I'm not trying to make the most of my time there. When I got such a great deal on my tickets, I noticed that they had raised the price on other flights to MCO for the same day....as much as $70 or so. So, I guess they are not only lowering prices for quick cash flow, but also raising prices due to their rising costs of fuel. JMO

One last thing....never once fly on those off time flights have I had a time change or cancellation. I guess because they are full flights due to the price! Funny how that works.
