Air Sick Bags on Mission Space

WOW! must be very realistic. I guess if custodians were having to clean up a lot, they may as well have the bags available.

hmm...a new souvenir! (I mean - the EMPTY bag!)

The bags are plain white, so they don't make good souveniers! ;) I kept one on hand during my flight last week. Didn't need it, but it was kind of nice to have. (in a wierd sort of way)

I told DS that I would never go on that ride again! This is a lot worse than the tea cup ride!

TC:cool:

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! I wasn't sick during the actual ride ( I tried to concentrate on my breathing) but after the ride was over, I was sick the entire day :(
The ride was VERY cool, but just not for me I guess :earseek:

Is it that bad??? My SO left me a note this a.m saying it was on the news that this ride caused many to be motion sick!! There's no way I'm going on that ride!!!

airhead

In Nov DH and I rode MS and both felt incredibly ill afterwards and were dizzy and nauseated all day long. The ride is amazing and I'm glad I tried it but I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

I didn't need a barf bag but I do admit at the end I was worried and waiting for the ride to end. I followed the directions by keeping my head back and looking straight ahead too.

bummer! :(

Yikes!

Is it as bad as Body Wars? I was totally useless after that ride! Thanks for the warning!

My local news had this on and said it was a FIRST for Disney! Barf Bags on a ride!

Robin, this one was way easier on me than Body Wars was. I pretty much avoid Body Wars now because it is just not what I call a fun ride (then again that one is just so jerky I don't enjoy it)!

Then again this one did nothing more to me than to give me a small sinus headache from the pressure and that went away within two minutes or so after the ride was done (I was very congested that week though so I think normally I'd be fine). I also looked around as the ride went on (took my eyes off the screen) and had no trouble. Shortly after, I was "dancing" for one of those post cards you can do after ;) I guess I thought this one wasn't a big deal... and really find other rides to be more "exciting" than this one. It was cool, but not worth a long wait to me.

My experience was the exact opposite. I can handle body wars, although it's not fav, but MS sent me reeling. I also felt horrible the rest of the evening.

Yes, I imagine that Disney is just be providing plain barf bags. It they put Mickey on it, everyone would want one.

I was ready to jump right back on MS after the first "mission". Guess I am Astronaut material. :p

I did make sure to go on with an empty stomach though the first time since I was worried about motion sickness. The sensations are interesting but I can see how some people wouldn't handle this well.

Makes you wonder if some Guests are "hit" my flying objects during the flight. :duck:

Funny, but I have trouble riding in cars or driving. Star Tours is a borderline kind of ride for me, Body Wars is out of the question. That said, I was a bit worried as I got ready to ride Mission Space.

We had just come from a relaxed dinner at California Grille, which included a couple drinks. I followed the directions about looking ahead and sitting up straight in my seat with my head back. I watched what was going on the screen, and only once or twice for a second did I feel at all dizzy. When I did I watched the horizon (that is a trick I learned) and was then fine. It helps they pump fresh, cool air to you.

Coming out of the car I was a bit "off balance" but was not sick, I was fine the rest of the night. It was the same kind of weak kneed feeling you might get after riding any thrill ride, but not dizzy.

Isn't the brain a wonderful thing? It can trick you!

I guess I did well, I rode Body Wars about 10 minutes after Mission: Space. I felt 'strange' walking out of the ride area, but felt fine and normal after about 2 minutes. I enjoyed the ride.

I wonder how long this ride is going to be popular if so many people aren't interested in repeat performances. Count me in as one of those. I felt just the big BLAHs afterwards -- difficult to describe -- somewhat of a headache, lightheadedness, fatigued maybe a little tummy ache -- just yucky. I'm glad I rode it before the barf bags came, though. I might have lost my nerve after I heard about that.

I haven't been to Disney this year so I have not ridden it. I'm not the kind of person to get motion sickness. They only time I do is if I read in the car. Other than that I'm usually fine. I think I will probably handle it well. I did good at space camp:tongue:

I did it last week too! I must have walked up to entrance and walked away about a dozen times before going on in. I had taken dramamine about 2 1/2 hours before going. This was going to be my first ride of the day. I finally went in the through the single line. Thank goodness for the single line if I had to wait in the reg line the anxiety prob would have killed me first..lol
I have to take dramamine to spend time riding any types of ride for a period and I was really worried.
When I got in I made sure to know where the barf bag was at.
On lift off I felt really nauseous for about a second. It only lasted a second and was quickly replaced by the feeling of g-force I kept my eyes focused on the screen concentrating that we were moving forward not spinning. I was good the whole ride until the last 20-30 seconds when I started to get really nauseous. I think maybe cause we were no longer moving forward on the screen but left and right. When I got off I was a mixture of feelings.
On one hand I felt really sick but on the other hand I was soooo excited about riding it! and surviving it! I felt totally better in about 5 min but didnt ride it again(didnt want to press my luck)
Would I ride it again? Yes!!!!
The liftoff was sooooo totally awesome!!!!!!!!!:hyper:

Hi,
We did the Mission Space ride 5 times during our stay a couple of weeks ago. The first time we took motion sickness pills. We had no problems with the ride.
We decided to experiment alittle. We stopped at China and got some eggrolls, and then topped them off with strawberry margaritas from Mexico. We then got on the ride. No problems. We had a great time!.
The other three times we rode we had no ill effects.
We didn't encounter anyone that had a problem with the ride.
We loved it.
Sandy

OH man, it's another ride that I'll never go on again, but I'm glad I did it at least once, to appreciate all the work that went into it.

I thought the ride was incredible. But I felt AWFUL afterwards, motion sick - and had to go back to BCV for a nap for a few hours in order to feel better.

I would have taken one of the bags just in case. :) I think it's a good move by Disney - at least they acknowledge that the ride is a barf machine for some. ;)
