What's a good brand name for air purifiers?
That's exactly my question.During covid it seems there were a LOT of these suddenly on the market. Many implied they trapped bacteria/viruses and have no idea if that was true. I would make sure to buy a reputable brand so the unit actually does what it claims and isn't just an overpriced fan.
My son did some research and bought me a Levoid purifier. Just arrived today.Levoit. My allergist recommended this brand and the unit I own is easy to maintain. This is my bedroom air cleaner and it works great for eliminating pet odors as well as filtering the air of dust.
We also have a Holmes unit in our living room, which requires changes of carbon and air filters every 2 to 3 months. With the amount of dust it collects, it is definitely doing its job. This one is old, so there are probably newer brands on the market.
I order replacement filters on Amazon.
Hope it works for you, we like ours and would replace it with the same. Current one is around 9 years old. I leave a sticky note on the machine to keep track of when I change the filter. With the Levoit, it’s 2x a year for me, though I’m sure it will vary depending on where it’s placed. My son did some research and bought me a Levoid purifier. Just arrived today.
If the sticky disappears (don’t you hate when that happens?) here are other possibilities that don’t rely on glue: use the daylight savings clock set days as the day to change the filter; I do this for my smoke/ carbon detector battery or set a note or reminder with audible alert on your cellphoneleave a sticky note on the machine to keep track of when I change the filter
Thank you so much for this info! We're a multi cat household. The smell is the exact issue we're having.Hope it works for you, we like ours and would replace it with the same. What we like most about this is the odor neutralizing ability. Example- We have a cat, and even with friends helping to care for her when we travel- first thing we notice when we walk in upon return is “cat”. We move the Levoit to the living room (with our other Hepa unit) and no smells at all when we return.
The machine lets you know when it’s time to change - but I like the visual cue and keep tabs on frequency of changes. I have always liked to write, lists and notes and what not. Many people program alerts on their phones and that would work well for them.If the sticky disappears (don’t you hate when that happens?) here are other possibilities that don’t rely on glue: use the daylight savings clock set days as the day to change the filter; I do this for my smoke/ carbon detector battery or set a note or reminder with audible alert on your cellphone![]()
Keep it running lol! You may need one in each room. But, it will definitely help!Thank you so much for this info! We're a multi cat household. The smell is the exact issue we're having.
My machine lets me know when to change too but I’m kinda OCD that way,LOLThe machine lets you know when it’s time to change - but I like the visual cue and keep tabs on frequency of changes.
