Air passenger duty to rise next year by 113%!

Does the increase affect you if you have already booked?

Why is this coming up now? This was decided back in the budget and is old news! :confused3

I just don't think it is really going to make that much difference on serval thousand pound holiday

Doesn't mean I think the goverment are right though - wish they would use by tax money better but hey ho thats a whole other issue

Its coming up now because Virgin have just added that page to their website recently.

Sometimes i just like to have a cheap trip to Florida - For my Trip in November i just have flights and spending money to pay for.

It might not seem like much of an issue to you and me but for a lot of people a trip to WDW is a "once in a lifetime" trip and £240 APD on a family of 4 is probably quite a lot to some people. :goodvibes

But £160 of that cost is already there, for a family of 4 its only going up £20 this year, then £60 next year (18 months away) I would be surprised if this stops people booking. Only last Oct we took flights for £240pp, bargains will still be there for cheap trips.
The mess the countries finances are in we are all going to have to pay more taxes unfortunatley, there will be many more to come.
I just think of how low my mortgage is to offsite these increases. When that starts going back up then I will complain with everyone else.:goodvibes

And the additional taxes continue to rise

The ATOL Protection Contribution is to increase from £1 to £2.50 from October 1 2009

Whilst they are all smallish sums, its the principal that is the main annoyance.

I wasnt saying it has gone up by that amount i was just pointing out thats how much they would be paying in APD in total. :goodvibes

Your mortgage may have gone down, but for me and many of my friends its gone up. Mine increased by almost £100 a month but thats a whole other issue :goodvibes
