Does anyone know if/when the Air Miles Park Tickets go on sale?
We're trying to build up enough but I seriously doubt we'll get what we need before we leave to see the Mouse so I was wondering if the redemption costs ever go down????

I finally went to redeem my Airmiles last year for Universal tickets. The day I went to redeem for them they were gone! I checked back a day or two later and they were back...but cost me more Airmiles to get :( I would be very surprised if park tickets went down.

I could only "afford" 1 Universal ticket with the Airmiles I had, but every little bit helps. Good Luck :)

I had no idea they went on sale! I'll keep my eye on this thread!

Oooh, I had looked at Disney tickets but they were just base and I was looking for Hopper and Water parks. But didn't think of Universal!! Thanks for the idea. We are 500 airmiles short but don't go until October so plenty of time to try and build it up.

A little strange/annoying though. They only have 1Day/1 Park and 2Day/Park to Park. Why not 1Day/Park to Park? This is what we have been planning...although I suppose if we can get that extra 500 points we would just have to go for an extra day :goodvibes

For Disney - all you have to do is buy the base ticket, and pay for the upgrade when you get there. You use fewer points, and pay the cash value of the upgrade (in this case 84$ plus tax for PH and Waterpark). I do this all the time, at least 2 air miles and 1 Aeroplan ticket per year. The only issue I have is when I order the Airmiles ticket many months before my trip, in which case I'll make sure I use the ticket at least once before I do the upgrade (just in case the price value of the ticket has gone up - this is called price bridging).

I also used to just buy the minimum number of days (those first 3 days are the most expensive), then I would pay the 10$/day to upgrade to the number of days I really wanted. With FP+, this has changed my strategy unfortunately. We can only pre-book the number of FP+ days that we have on our tickets...

You can also do the same for your Universal ticket - buy 1park/1day, and pay for the upgrade at the ticket booth when you decide that it's time to switch parks.

Is that really true? I can use Air Miles for the 3 Day Base (lowest reward offered) and then purchase the remaining 4 days worth of tickets at the Parks and ONLY pay abut $10 per ticket? WOW
I had nooooooo idea. this has me rethinking my strategy for getting our tickets for the best price/Air Mile combination.

Thanks for the info!!

Wow! That is a great idea! So they actually send you tickets then? Not a voucher? I don't think we will have enough miles for Disney but good to know for future and for Universal!

Air miles sends actual tickets. Aeroplan used to email a voucher, but I suspect that this has changed to actual tickets; I ordered one over a week ago, and since I haven't received an emailed voucher yet, there must be a real ticket in the mail.

Excellent, thank you. Currently plotting how to boost our miles within the next 6 months and atleast try to get atleast 1 adult 7 day base ticket. And then we would buy the other from undercovertourist.

I have also been keeping an eye on the airmiles site for tix. We bought our son the childrens 7 day ticket when they wee in sale a couple of yrs ago. We ave not used it, the last time we went we stayed on site and bought a package.

Someone wa mentioning about upgrading to ph and water park. I am not really understanding the Fp + system or bands! I am wondering if you have tickets from airmiles, will u still b able to upgrade to 10 days non expiry?

I think you mis-read what LizardValley was saying. Not sure when the $10 (plus 6.5% tax) a day goes into effect (after 5 days?), but it's not $10 to upgrade each ticket.

A 3 day ticket is $279.03US. If you want a 7 day ticket, it will be $329.09US. So the difference per ticket is $50.06. If you want to add the park hopper, it will be $391.92 for a difference of $94.89US per ticket cost to upgrade.

I have done this twice. Once I got the ticket as a gift and upgraded the 7 day no park hopper to a 10 day park hopper. This time I used my own airmiles and got the 7 day and will add the park hopper when I get to WDW in May. It will cost me $62.83US.

This is great info! Does anyone know if the same applies to Disneyland tickets? If I get the 3 day tickets on airmiles can I upgrade to the 5 day when we get there and just pay the difference?

I bought a 5 day ph with airmiles and upgraded to an annual pass last September. All I had to pay was the difference in value between the ph and the ap so I think it is safe to assume you can upgrade from a 3 to 5 day pass by paying the difference.

Edited to add: this was at Disneyland not WDW.

Help Please. Need current 2014 information.

re: UPGRADE AIRMILES ISSUED PARK HOPPER TICKETS TO ANNUAL PASS AT DISNEYLAND

Will be using Airmiles to get 5 Day Park Hopper Disneyland passes for Adult & Child.

1) Are these Airmiles issued DL Hopper Passes good to be used for upgrade to Annual Pass at Disneyland's Main Gate?

2) What "dollar" value does Disneyland give you to be used for upgrade to Annual Pass for (a) 5 Day Park Hopper & (b) 3 Day Park Hopper for BOTH Adult & Child. Would like to compare pricing.

3) Is there a Price printed on the Airmiles issuedl DL Hopper Passes AND do you get the "actual paper" ticket when you order from Airmiles?

4) What price is printed on Airmiles issued (a) 5 Day Park Hopper & (b) 3 Day Park Hopper for BOTH Adult & Child. Would like to compare pricing.

5) When is "last" possible moment we can upgrade to Annual Pass?

6) Can we use DL Hopper Passes to enter park on "last day" and decide later on the "last" day to upgrade to Annual Pass so long as we do so "before" Park closes?

7) If we upgrade our DL Hopper Passes on the "last" day to Annual Pass "before" we enter park and the upgrade day is a "Black Out" day for the Annual Pass can we still enter the park on this "Black Out" day?

8) Is it better to use the DL Hopper Pass to enter the park on the "Black Out" day and then upgrade later that same day before park closes?

9) If we use Park Hopper Ticket to enter park on "last" day and then upgrade to Annual Pass later in the day can we still "park hop" to the other park? Do we need to make sure we are done with "both" parks before we upgrade and upgrade on our way home before the ticket booths close?

10) Technically, our DL Hopper Pass would have allowed us to enter park on the "Black Out" day AND we could Park Hop. We do not want to lose a day because we upgraded to an Annual Pass on a "Black Out" day nor lose the "Park Hop" privileges.

11) What date is used for expiration date on the upgraded Annual Pass? Does the Annual Pass expire 1 year from the start of the "1st" day of Park Hopper entrance date OR on the "actual day of upgrade"? If the latter then this would mean we can delay the expiration of the annual pass by a few days.

12) Do the food discounts on Annual Pass work for "snack" kiosks like Dole Whip?

Thanks for your prompt reply. In a RUSH for the info.

We still need to order our Airmiles DL Park Hopper passes. Also, if these Airmiles issued passes are not upgradeable to Annual Pass we need to look for good pricing on tickets for "extra" days in Disneyland.

We have small kids so our money is better spent buying tickets for extra days at DL as opposed to spending comparable amounts on tickets for other parks (eg. Universal, Sea World) since we would have more options for entertainment by staying at DL more days.

Thanks again for your prompt reply and any help you can provide. Even if you don't have the answer to all the questions above, please answer what you can. Appreciate it. Have a good day!

Anyone ever do this.

I haven't upgraded Aeroplan tickets to an AP, but I have upgraded them to PH, added days, and NE.

1. Aeroplan e-mails you a voucher.
2. Go to GR and get a real ticket
3. Use it to enter the park at least once (this "bridges" the value of the ticket to current gate price)
4. Go back to GR and upgrade it to an AP
5. you will pay the difference between what the ticket you have is worth, and the cost of an AP

The disadvantage now, is that you cannot make any FP+ reservations with that voucher until you have exchanged it. I am currently holding an Aeroplan voucher, and I'll try to convince someone over the phone to issue me a ticket that I can link to MDE instead. I'll report back.
