Four of us (3 adults and 1 5-year-old) have a split BWV/AKV stay in May (our first stay at DVC) in a standard studio and we are thinking about bringing an air mattress so that no one has to sleep with the 5-year-old. Will an air mattress fit on the floor with the couch also pulled out? Does anyone due this? Woudn't want someone to not get sleep due to sleeping on the pull out couch... (all the pull outs are smaller than queens, right?)

yep, the pullouts are double sized (smaller than queens).

most of the DVC resorts don't have rollaway beds or cots, so you would be on your own bringing an inflatable bed (which some people do).

i haven't tried it, but i would expect there would usually be room for a small inflatable bed, unless you were staying in a value studio at AKV, in which case i don't think it would fit.

The sleep sofa in the BWV studio is a double size. There would be room for an air mattress (twin size).

Can't comment on the AKV.

We always stay in a 2BR at BWV with 3 kids ending up in the Studio portion. Our kids sleep better if they're not in the same bed....the two boys move around a lot when they sleep....so we always bring an Aerobed. We find it fits really easily in the entrance way .... doesn't block the bathroom or kitchenette. We always come/go from the entrace on the 1BR side anyway. Bonus is it's a bit secluded as well which worked well when our youngest was little. Not sure if it's feasible for you to block the entrance way....depends if anyone will be coming/going on different schedules.....I don't think it'd be a safety hazard as that entrance way is wider than a twin air mattress, and the mattress can easily be propped on it's side to enable full door access if needed.

Have a great trip!

As long as no one fights over who has to sleep on the air mattress which is what happened to our family and that was not fun. A studio is so tiny and then putting an air mattress in there makes it even more so. But if you can live with it - go for it! Just remember those air mattresses are heavy and it ended up putting us over the 50 pound limit at the air port and had to pay an extra $20 weight penalty.

There are couple of studios at BWV that have a small daybed type thing in addition to pullout sofa that could fit 5 yr old but these are noted on reservation as a request only and there is no guarantee that you will get this type studio so you would still want to take along air mattress as back up in case you didn't get studio with daybed.

And for air mattress you need to bring sheets, etc. because that will not be provided.

If you will have a car you can purchase an inexpensive air mattress at Walmart or Walgreen's, etc. instead of taking along on flight or check shipping charges to send it from home to resort & then back home again - it might be cheaper vs extra charge for luggage being over weight limit.

:)

You could use one of the cheaper inflatable pool floats for a five year old. We use them for camping all the time....My twin inflatable is pretty heavy.

We had a major snorer with us and my son slept on the couch cushions on the floor for a few nights. I couldn't wait to get home because I didn't sleep for 9 nights!
