Air mattress? Electric converter?

There will be three of us staying at Hotel New York. We each need our own bed but can't afford the family room. Don't worry, I register and pay for all 3 of us when booking so it's not like I'm being shady, we just need an additional bed. WDW offers rollaway beds for a small fee but it seems that DLP does not. I have an air mattress but I've read somewhere that the pump doesn't work with the electric converters?

What are your thoughts? Experiences?

The majority of the rooms at HNY are of the US format and have two double beds in them or one king size bed and a sofa bed.

With regards to air mattresses and electronic pumps or any electrical items you will need to ensure that you are using the correct power socket in the room. Some of the wall sockets are low voltage ones for lamps and will not supply enough juice to power high volt items like kettles or pumps.

Thanks for the reply. :)I had no idea there are outlets with different voltage; I imagine they are labeled with their respective voltage? :confused3

I've never heard of this but the lamps are usually already plugged in, I have run a laptop off the sockets that the lamp was connected to and found it no different. TBH as you are bringing the mattress from the US then you will already be on a lower voltage as the US is 110v and Europe is 230v

No they are not labelled, but they will have lamps plugged into them. The ones near the desk / table will be the ones your looking for. Also make sure your pump can work at 220 volts at 50 cycles, that's twice the voltage of the American power system. You might have to use a Power Converter (transformer) to make it work otherwise it will burn out. You will also need a European plug converter.

You would be fine plugging a laptop into the lamp power sockets as a laptop only needs about 20v. Try plugging a kettle into one and you will be waiting hours for your kettle to boil.

I think it will be tight fitting an air bed in the room, we was squashed getting a travel cot in ours.
