I am planning our 1st Christmas Disney vacation. Any advice about air fare, ie. if the rates ever go down, and if so when? Thanks!
Jill

I'm going Christmas too. I hope Southwest flies out of your city because that's really your only hope for a decent price if you're going between Dec. 22 and Dec. 31. I've been checking prices on other airlines, and they just keep going up. Southwest should release their late Dec. flights in the next two or three weeks. The good thing about that airline is that you can get an account credit if the fare goes down after you book it.

I was checking dec flights from Cleveland non stop, preferring Continental. the rates were over $400 for what seemed like an eternity.
this past Friday I checked and they were about $230.
Much better! Our dates our 12/10 with return on 12/24 Christmas Eve!

So yes, (IMO) I think it can be ok to wait for rates to drop, especially with back up plans such as a different airport, or flexibility on dates/time of day, or flight with connections, etc.

As Ub_Iwerks mentioned, Southwest has not released their fares yet for the Christmas/New Year's dates. Once they do, I would imagine other airlines would drop their fares to compete with Southwest. At least that's what I'm hoping, since we're planning on going down for Christmas as well!
