Air Conditioning Sensor at BCV

Unfortunately, when I called about the temperature in my room, I was told nothing could be done. (68 is way too warm for DH and me.) I asked to speak with a supv, but he told me the same thing.

That is too bad. We've stayed in several of the BCV rooms. The thermostats come with a factory preset of 68 degrees. A maintenance staff can change that so it can be set to a lower temp. During one of our stays, maintenance came to replace light bulbs, and I ask him if there was anything he could do about the 68 setting, and he happily reset it for us so we could turn it to 65. It made all the difference.

Next trip request that maintenance come to fix a broken bulb or patio door lock or something. Then, when they are there, ask them in person about the thermostat. I've found better cooperation that way. Telephone requests are often answered with the standard Disneyspeak from some SOP manual.

The way the system works is both my movement and by heat sensor. When you leave the room it senses no movement and no heat from your bodys. When you come back into the room the system sees the movement or senses the heat from your body. At night with no movement it still picks up on the body heat. If you are having to move around at night there is something wrong with the system.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Maybe you could just leave a hairdryer on low in front of it???:D

I saw your smilie, but perhaps it should have been a winkie. Then I could be sure that you weren't serious about this suggestion ;).

We were at BCV in May and we had no trouble with the AC. The sensor didn't present a problem.

After BCV we headed over to the Poly. You want crappy AC, the Poly is your place. The building we were in (Fiji) has been renovated and they must have the sensor thermostats there. The room got so hot when we weren't in it, and the room would never really cool down when we were there. It was terrible.

We were in a studio on the second floor in May. I was comfortable at night. Maybe it is because I left the door of the refrig open to keep it cool:eek:     :D (just joking, obviously).

I know you're joking! Over time, that would actually raise the temperature in the room (no ****!). You might want to try it if the room is too cold.

When we were there in May our room became stuffy at night (we were in a 2br). When I called to complain, they sent a maitnenance man up right away. He changed the thermostat to "manual" to override the sensor. There was no problem after that. Sandie

I noticed this problem on my stay last week at OKW. I am usually freezing in the OKW villas, but on this trip the temperature was just about tolerable, bordering on uncomfortable. My brother, who works in hospital maintenance, told me that they can reset the chillers to go down to a certain temperature and that they probably do so during the night and early morning hours to save on energy. This sounds plausible to me. On my last night at OKW, I don't remember hearing the a/c going on at all until around 7 am. I found myself using the ceiling fan much more often on this visit. The outside temps were not overwhelmingly hot, but it was very humid.

On one of my trips pre-DVC, I found the same situation on my one night at the All-Star Sports. It was very uncomfortable and I don't think they had ceiling fans in the rooms at that time (or if they do now, for that matter).

Have not yet been home, but from what I'm seeing from pictures, aren't there ceiling fans in the rooms? Doesn't this provide ANY kind of air circulation, whether in or out of the room? I've just never seen anyone on here mention that they tried that, so I'm wondering if that might be of help! I can assure you that while we're there in August, DH and I will have that fan on during the night!

We were at BCV in June and had no problems with the A/C. It did turn off when we were gone, but cooled down quickly when we got back into the room. Did not have any problems with it getting too cold or too warm at night.

Maybe we got a good room (548).

We just returned from our stay in a Studio at BCV. When we got there the room felt warm. We could not lower the thermostat below 68 degrees. My DH and I are used to sleeping in a cooler room so we called the desk. They sent someone up and they adjusted the thermostat so that we could lower it to 62 degrees. Everything was fine after that. I do think that they keep the hallways too cold. I told my DH if the room was not cool enough we should all open our doors at night to get the air from the hallways. Wouldn't that be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No problem last week in our 2 bdrm or the studio that others in our group used. I'd give it another try if I were you. Enjoy!
