I just sent off a detailed complaint letter (email on their site) yesterday to AC re our return trip from Florida this week.

I am wondering if anyone out there has ever contacted them and received any kind of response?

They will respond, but won't do anything for you! They aren't like Westjet's customer service.

Thanks for your reply. I am really not hopeful but was so angry, felt I had to do something. I am hoping I will never have to fly with them but in Nova Scotia, there are not many options.

My sister had a HORRIBLE experience with AC, her flight was cancelled and she was stranded in Toronto.. she has epilepsy and because of the stress and lack of sleep she ended up having a seizure, her friend panicked and called 911.. it was pretty much a big disaster! My mom had bought her the ticket so she sent a big complaint to AC and she kept sending the letter.. probably three or four times... and eventually they responded and gave her $400!

Thanks for your reply. Our problem was just this week when our flight was late leaving Orlando, causing us to miss our connection to Halifax at 6 pm - we then were booked on a flight at 11 pm which was cancelled due to weather. They could only find us room on another flight the next nite at 9 pm.
We had been up since 7 am that day, spent the nite at the airport and tried to go standby but all flights were full. We were physically, mentally exhausted. We ended up getting an earlier flight with West Jet - we paid for that ourselves and were told that we would lose the $ for our AC return ticket. I felt that we should get a credit minus $40 but the AC rep disagreed.
Hence the letter. AC would rather penalize people who are exhausted then see them get a flight on a competitive airline...... We are out of pocket approx. $450. I feel bad for your sister - they should have supplied her with a free hotel room. They cancel flights and expect passengers to grin & bear it!
They could show some empathy!

My parents had a problem and both got 15,000 free air miles points.

We had a really bad situation on a flight to Orlando last Feb. We wrote a letter and got a 500 dollar flight credit.

The problem here is it was weather related not an airline problem. Good luck though.

when it's weather related there's nothing anyone can do. AC is probably the safest airline when it comes to weather conditions, their planes don't take off until it's safe. a few months ago there was really bad weather and people were complaining because the AC flight was waiting until it was clear to take off, therefor being delayed. well they sure were happy that the flight had waited, when, as they made their way for take off, they saw that an Air France plane, which had decided to go ahead, had skipped off the runway while taking off (no injuries or anything of the sort.)

delayed flight sucks, and missed connections, reservations getting messed up because of those delays are all really, really, annoying things, but sometimes there's nothing that can be done. if you decide to take another airline to get where you want to get, that's your choice, they're not going to stop you but they certainly aren't going to help you along either.

We have decided never to fly AC. We have sent a complaint letter and as someone already mentioned they will respond with some general apology and they will look into the matter but hopefully you will still fly with them....well, NO!

If you don't or can't fly Westjet, I would suggest Canjet/AirTransat or Continental. They all fly from Halifax to Orlando.

The complaint letter that I wrote to Air Canada was answered but not to my satisfaction, no compensation, no deduction, nothing!! I paid $2100 for 3 direct return flights from YHZ to MCO and the direct was cancelled and received a 6hr with stop over to and a 10hr with stop over return........grrrrrrrr:mad:
