International guest have to pick up their bags, clear customs, put their bags on a conveyer belt (not on the carousel), enter the main terminal and then pick up their bags a second time in the baggage claim area. ME eliminates having to pick up the bags a second time. My understandingis they have to pick up their luggage and clear customs before they take the monorail to the main terminal building.

Someone please re-iterate: Do international guests, after clearing customs in Orlando, really put the luggage back on the carousel? If the Magical Express baggage clerk is behind the scenes, he won't see the luggage going 'round and 'round. (If the guest has the luggage in hand, he can always hand carry it the rest of the way, onto the ME bus.)

I find it hard to believe that the ME clerk could intercept baggage prior to customs.

That's what the CM told me but I don't understand why they won't send us the special tags...we clear custom in Toronto.

CALL BACK, even if you clear in MCO you should still get the tags to avoid having to pick up your luggage the second time.

Someone posted that you don't pre-clear customs in Toronto.

Just called WestJet. They confirmed that we (WJ customers) clear customs at Pearson and Disney does the rest. Don't know about other airlines though. Still looking for clarification on the luggage tags. Are the Tinkerbell ones for ME?

thanks

We flew AC last month-we cleared US customs in Toronto all luggage in hand-then you take your checked luggage to the conveyor, Clear security with your carryon and off to the gate you go. When we arrived in MCO we walked directly to the shuttle that takes us to baggage claim.

When we left, we checked in, took our luggage to the security screening booth in MCO then went through security with our carryons. We cleared customs in Toronto when we landed with all of our luggage in tow.

Is this different now?

The last 2 times we flew Air Canada and Westjet (to Orlando). Both times we cleared custom in Toronto. We used to clear custom in Toronto when we flew to Tampa but they changed that last year. You now have to go through custom in Tampa.

I just called to confirm all of my info is correct for ME, I leave May 9th and haven't received my tags, and will also be getting them for a friend who is joining me May12. I need to forward her tags to her, as they will only send them to one address. Well...cm said they are behind and haven't mailed any yet, they will start mailing the first ones out next week so not to expect them until a few days before. I hope they catch up and I get them a little earlier than that. She did say there will be disney staff at each of the stops the shuttle makes at MCO that will be able to help direct us to the busses, so this part seems easy. Hope it all works out. Oh, and she gave me a number to call if I don't receive my tags, apparently in a pinch they can send them special delivery if need be.
