Air Australia has gone under!

Just heard this news this morning.

I was looking at flights with them to Hawaii! Thank goodness we didn't!

I hope there aren't any disers who are booked to go to Hawaii or any of their other destinations. (or are currently stranded somewhere after flying with them)

Gosh they didn't last long! They only changed their name to Air Australia, what in November, December?

I just read that people had checked in for their flight in Thailand, were told it was delayed twice, then nothing for hours before eventually finding out the administrators had taken over the they weren't flying at all. The plane was sitting there and they didn't have the money to refeul the plane!

They were still taking bookings on Wednesday! Imagine booking and paying for your flights Wednesday and finding out Friday you may have lost your money! (if you didn't pay by credit card). Heartbreaking!

I saw this on the news. I remember you mentioning them as Stategic for flights to Hawaii. I did actually have a quick look. Thank god I was just looking. How awful for the people stranded. It would be my worst nightmare being stuck overseas.

I'm sure there is somebody here on the Aussie board who did book flights with them, I think to Hawaii . Can't remember who it was I really really hope they have flown already

Weren't they flying in January? There has just been people on Fox news talking about how there travel insurance doesn't cover them for insolvency something i guess we better look into.

We arrived home exactly 3 weeks ago from our magical hawaiian holiday with Air Australia. I'm so thankful we got to enjoy our holiday before this drama. Feel sad for those caught up in it and the great flight attendants now without jobs I guess that will be the last cheap hawaiian holiday we'll be having.

Ohhhh, lovintheland it was you! I knew somebody on here was travelling with them! I'm so glad that you got your trip in . It is really such a shame for everybody who is now out of pocket from this and also to all of those who have lost their jobs!

We flew in the day they went belly up, word was that hotels in Hawaii were then charging $700 plus for a room......no cars available to hire etc.....
Seems they all got home eventually, thank god we flew qantas.
And I don't think travel insurance covered it, some poor people were re routed via Vancouver.........crazy.
