Air and Manta?

I know that Manta is a Seaworld ride, but thought I might get a better response from posting this on the UK board. I've ridden and enjoyed Air at Alton Towers and was really quite excited about the prospect of riding Manta @ Seaworld... until I looked up the stats of the ride. I'm really not keen on drops, and the 114ft drop on Manta sounds very daunting to me. Is the sensation similar to Air, or is it a more intense ride, where the drop would be likely to bother me? (FWIW, hubby doesn't really want to go to Seaworld, so if we fork out for tickets, I'm pretty much going to have to go on the ride!)

I have ridden both and they are very similar but Manta definitely feels more intense than Air. Air is a great ride but Manta is amazing.

Having said that, i would definitely not pay for tickets to Sea World just for one ride.

I've ridden both & hands down Manta is more extreme than Air. But I would say for only one reason, which is the internal loop. Really high G, the rest of the ride is fine.

I would also say that Manta is by some distance my favourite ride in Florida just because of that loop.

Now I've only ridden Air once, and it was raining hard at the time, so my main memories of it are that I had to keep my eyes closed because rain at 50 miles per hour REALLY hurts your face! But from what else I can recall, they are fairly similar rides - apart from the inverse loop on Manta, which is AMAZING (and slightly disconcerting the first time you go round it).

I'm also not a huge fan of big drops, but Manta's isn't too bad - it might look really steep when you look at it as you're coming up the first climb, but when you're on it, it's not quite as tough as it looks and feels quite smooth coming down at speed.

The other thing I'll say, is if you're still unsure, do go ahead and ride it, but get a seat near the front (ideally, second row) the first time you go on. You'll get a much less intense version of the ride, with a greater feeling of flying from there. Then if you like it, go further towards the back for the full experience!

I ve never experienced any thing like Manta.

First time we were seated on the second to back row and having just read some of the pp it may well answer as to why I genuinely felt like I slightly lost my sense of being!

It's really hard to describe I certainly never passed out, that sounds really exaggerated, but the way felt on that ride was bizarre!

I've also rode air a number of times and to me air is VERY mild in comparison.

Like other posters have said, Manta is way more intense, it's a remarkable ride though, the force you feel on the first loop is unlike anything I've felt on any other coaster.

Manta is what air should of been faster, higher and just well better

I really can't wait to try Manta on our trip. When I went in 2010 it was closed for refurb, just my luck Guess I'll have to try Air first though, don't have any excuse not to seeing as I work at Alton Towers

that's good to know, thanks when I rode it I was towards the back and felt like I was going to fall out after the first drop......but might try it again this trip and stay towards the front instead.

I love air and have ridden it quite a few times and think manta is defiantly more intense.
