Has anyone ever seen it. I just read a review of it on a website of our local community college and it sounds great! Me and 3 of the girls from work are going July 12th to see it...Elton John and Tim Rice's version of course. Had no idea it was a Disney thing!! Aida

I'm excited about going. Haven't been to a musical since the same college did a production of Chorus Line a few years ago.

Would love to hear from anyone who has seen Elton and Tim's version of Aida.

Thanks,

Denise

I've listened to a sample of the music....you can do it on the website I sent you and I listened elsewhere. Powerful music! I can feel the tears coming! One of the professors who comes into my restaurant for lunch often before rehearsals has told me this is a powerful show, the music really does it! I asked the other professor who is a female would I need my tissues...she said yep!

Hi! I saw this on Broadway about a year before it closed and loved it. It's a love triangle with a very sappy ending. If you're bringing girls, expect tears! There were a couple of songs that I could have done without but on the whole, it was a very good show. Enjoy! The community theater group I'm in is doing this show this summer as well.

Thanks y'all! :thumbsup2 As a "chocolate" person can I assume by seeing the word Nubian the majority of the cast will also be "chocolate"?? :p I suppose it just depends on the area it's casted in.

Also saw it on Broadway. It's really good.

I saw it on broadway and was enthralled. I can't even describe how wonderful it was. The music was beautiful (I bought the soundtrack soon after) and it was visually amazing.

Dh and I saw it for our anniversary a few years back. We both really like it. The song "My strongest Suit" is my favorite. Enjoy

My theater group has this one on the short list for our 2007 production. I had never heard of it until then. Thanks for the link!

You're welcome. If you want a more accurate description of the musical I can link you to one of our local colleges. The Disney site just more or less has the music and ticket sales.

DS performed in the orchestra for "Aida" at a theater near Dallas a few months ago. He's probably biased, but he told me it was a great musical to see and of course, he saw it many times!

I saw it on Broadway, and enjoyed it as well. It's a jazzier, pop version of the Verdi opera, and not as morbid. Enjoy!!

We saw it in Minneapolis when the production was on the road a few years ago. Very good show.

So happy to hear all the wonderful reviews. I know that the ending will be sad, but a good cry is good for ya every now and again.

Thanks DISers! :sunny:

I would rather wear a barrel
Than conservative apparel
For my dress has always been
My strongest suit

saw it with Heather Headley and Adam Pascal when it first opened on Broadway.

My girls did a jazz routine to that song and I have to say in all their years of dancing that was my all time favorite and theirs! They did it their final year of dance and won a gold medal at the ADA's national dance competition with it....it is a great song!

My oldest DS was in our local theatre's production of this last year (he played Marab (sp?) for anyone who knows the play) and I thought it was wonderful! I didn't think the ending was sad at all....quite the opposite.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Did you miss the part where they find each other in another life? I thought it was very romantic.
