Do you think artificial intelligence will eventually be seen as a new form of creativity, or will it always be considered just a tool that reflects human creativity?

It’s a debate with a lot of depth—on one hand, AI can generate art, music, literature, even inventions. On the other hand, many argue it’s simply remixing and refining what humans already created.

I don’t consider AI to be creative. It takes in data and reorganizes it, then spits out the reorganized data. It doesn’t have the capability (yet) to think on its own, so it cannot create something completely new. Anything it comes up with will always be based only on the data it has been given. A person can sit down with an idea and a pen and paper and design something no one has ever dreamed of. It would be like inputting the data for rotary dial telephones and expecting it to come up with smartphones. However, if you input the data for smartphones and ask how to improve one, it might be able to do that (if not now, within a few years).

Although I think at some point in the future computers could have the ability to think and act on their own, I don’t necessarily think that’s a good idea. Fortunately I am old enough now that I doubt it would happen in my lifetime.
