Hi all - how's everyone doing tonight?
How was your day?
What's for dinner tonight?
Any grand plans for the evening?

I am doing pretty well, considering IT'S JANUARY! I hate winter. But I am so glad I don't live down south where they got ice stormed so badly. I HATE being out of power almost as much as I HATE winter! ;)

I got virtually nothing done today... got sucked into a discussion thread earlier today here on the CB and never was able to pull away... got two loads of laundry done, but sort of neglected the whole folding bit.

I am about to go start dinner... going to make spaghetti and meatballs. I wish I had some fresh bread and some salad to have with it, but I am not up to going out in the cold to drive 20 minutes to the grocery store. Frozen broccoli will have to suffice.

After that, I think it will probably just be a TV watching, internet surfing sort of evening. My DH's fav shows are on tonight, so he will be watching those. There's an interesting-sounding program on History later about Egypt, I might check that out.

Doing great! I must admit that I am sick of winter. This is supposed to be one of the coldest/snowiest winters on record in my area.

Taking it easy tonight. After I get the kids to bed, I'm going to soak in the tub.

I'm gonna watch The Trials of Ted Haggard doc on HBO and Hell's Kitchen tonight.

And thanks for invitin' me in, very much. :flower3:

Hello! Coincidentally, it is ridiculously warm up here in the 'frozen' north. It should be -20 to -30 C ( -4 to -20 F) right now normally, but instead it's 5 C (41 F) and RAINING. Which means it is going to be oh so fun tomorrow morning when it's all frozen.

As for me, I have no idea what I'm going to do tonight besides cleaning. But earlier today I was continuing my job search and applied for what may be the best job I can imagine. I hope I can get an interview!

I threw together a quick ziti dinner for me and the kids. Dh is out with some colleagues from France, he gets to go to a 4 star restaurant while I'm stuck at home. Thats Okay I'm doing some research on a new car. I had convinced myself I wasn't going to buy another American car but I'm rethinking my decision. Anyone own a Chrysler Pacifica?
My dses are off to bed soon and me and dd will watch American Idol. Then I'll start to read Twilight so I can finally give it to her to read because she's not getting it until I check it out first. All in all a pretty low key evening for us.

Hi all -
Welcome in! Pull up a chair, grab a beverege of your choice, and get comfy! :goodvibes

My meatballs are in the oven, so I have a few more minutes to be lazy.

Nomi, you are due north of me by about 10 hours... how do you get to be so much warmer??!? I call NO FAIR! I don't envy you the rain once it freezes though... YUCK. Be careful out there tomorrow.

Hmmmm.. :scratchin a soak in the tub sounds really good... maybe I will skip the show on Egypt and take a bubble bath instead...

How exciting that you get to buy a new car, luvmy3! I don't own a Pacifica, what do you like about it? I own a Ford Windstar... not my car of choice, but it gets us from point A to point B. if I could have my dream car it would be a Ford Escape Hybrid... but those are SPENDY.

I drive a Windstar too, which is why I'm in the market for a new car. The transmission failed and had to be replaced, I just don't trust it anymore. We do alot of traveling and it left us stranded an hour away from home, I don't want that to happen again. I do love the mini van but since my kids are older I don't know if I want another. I have always liked the looks of the Pacifica and I know it seats 6 which is good for us. I don't know too much more about it, I think I'm going to go look at some in person tomorrow.

We have a Honda Civic and a Subaru Forrester. Two different cars, but I completely love them both. We will probably keep them until they die.

So, any exciting plans for the weekend? We'll probably just make some chili or soup and play games. Either that or order pizza and watch a movie.

I'm in Florida and even I'm tired of winter. It's been unusually cold down here this year, but I guess that can't compare to what it's been like up north.

Had dinner with friends at one of the country clubs tonight and just kicking back.

Spaghetti or ziti sounds good. We had leftover split pea soup & organic white wheat bread & rHGb-free yogurt cheese grilled sandwiches with regular butter. Kids had b-ball practice tonight. Tired..

:wave2:
Hey there. I absolutely love winter, it is by far my favorite season.

I own a Chrysler Pacifica, I love it, but it does get some pretty bad gas mileage. The 2008 ones were updated and get better than past models, but it's still not that great.

My husband made a new dish last night. It was a crock-pot of a giant tri-tip and two cans of beans and all sorts of seasoning.

It was okay, but why is it that when you Crock-pot, it all comes out tasting like Beef Stew?

And I don't like beef stew.

What can I do to the left-overs tonight so that I can eat the rest. I don't want him offended but I really didn't like it very much.

If it really bad for you if yuou mix in a pound of sharp cheddar to mask the taste?

I spent all afternoon in meetings and am looking forward to leftovers for dinner.

I have always owned mini-vans, and I can't tell you how many transmissions we have gone through. :sad2: At least one per van! Somebody told me once that the transmissions that they use in mini-vans aren't geared properly to handle the weight of the van.. something about the size of the tranny has to be small enough to fit in the drivetrain space available, and it just isn't big enough to be powerful enough... or something like that... LOL
Anyhow, frustrating as all get out, I agree...

I am getting tired of snow :(

Me too. Bad thing is, I know I have at LEAST 2 more full months of it, probably more like 3.
Heck, it snowed in JUNE here last year. Yuck.
I would make a really good snowbird...

I will spend the weekend working on our house we are building. We are doing the Mutual Self Help Housing program.

What is Mutual Self-Help Housing?
Mutual Self-Help Housing (MSH) is an innovative and productive program. Participating family groups earn their down payments, closing costs and equity by investing considerable and regular time into the building of their homes, and the homes of their neighbors.

I love the program, and I love the people we are working with, but I am getting REALLY tired of working outside in the snow all day.
Anyone who is interested can read all about our adventures here - pictures and everything! Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the September 08 archive to start at the beginning of the house story, if you are interested.

We will miss the first part of the Super Bowl on Sunday because we build till dark, but then we are having homemade chili dogs while we watch the second half.

That program really does sound interesting.

I ended up just making a simple rice dish tonight. I cooked some wild rice in some chicken broth, and fried up some celery, carrots, crushed walnuts and lots of onions. Put some herbs du province in the mix, threw the mix into the rice and voila, a rice dish that tastes like stuffing.

Tomorrow though I'm going to be making pork tenderloin with and orange-balsamic glaze thing and some tomato/cheese stacks. Well, thats the plan. I'm just learning how to cook so hopefully it all works out.

I will admit, I have been mulling over your post for a while now. I am just not sure what you could do with your leftovers. Maybe separate the beef from the beans and make a sandwich out of it? Maybe you could mask the taste by adding mustard, lettuce... a pound of sharp cheddar. :lmao:

Really too bad his recipe didn't work out... but I must admit it doesn't sound very good to me either...
