In preparation for my appointment with the breast surgeon on Friday I am reading up again on fibrocystic disease which they diagnosed me with about 6 years ago. I figure this lump is probably also a cyst so I just wanted to remind myself of all of my symptoms. I was reading along with some fibrocystic information when I came along this interesting little tidbit:

Women with fibrocystic disease of the breasts should be evaluated for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and if found aggressively treated.

OK, I realize that since I am pregnant I don't really have PMS right now but my first reaction was: How are they going to aggressively treat my PMS every month? Shoot me? That might be the only thing that would cure it because that Midol sure isn't worth anything.

LOL, I think they mean to put you to sleep for that week.

Hi Becka, I had this also, and had great luck with eliminating all caffeine and adding a daily vitamin E. Hope all goes well for you Friday. (I will also admit to a little PMS problem.)

I believe there are anti-depressants that are used for that.

And no, this isn't a joke. LOL

Ask your dr. about serafem, it's a mild form of anti-depressant, apparently. anyways, i take one a day and the difference in PMS is unreal. Things that would normally bother you, just do NOT bother you at all. i doubt you could take while pregnant, but this is a proven pms fighter. I read about it in the pamphlet in the waiting room and asked to try it. That was 4-5 yrs ago.

Sarafem is Prozac -- packaged in a prettier box with a flower on it, marketed for PMS. I have hateful, really, really hateful, PMS.. and my ob/gyn reccomended it.. I took the script home and looked it up before getting it filled. Was I shocked! Prozac does nothing to balance out the hormones that cause PMS. It just covers it up and treats it like a mental disorder, working on the seratonin affecting parts of the brain. To me it's not worth it.. I want the hormonal flux to be leveled out, I don't want to sit around not caring about things.

Just my opinion!
