Aggressive DVC Housekeeping Checkout Day

Worked for me!
Nothing like a Stickie on the door that says Yes I am DVC and I paid a lot of money for this stickie privilege on my door = class act.
I just can’t picture housekeeping taking that seriously .
And telling management But there was a stickie on the door forbidding me to knock.

So true. Shouldn't even have to think it's necessary to do that. Yet......

There’s alot of reports with the app showing guests were already checked out when they went in to do it themselves. Does that mean the door keys won’t work anymore, or will they still remain active anyway?

It would stink to leave the room and a second later you realize you left a charger in the outlet, but whoa… the 999 Happy Haunts already checked you out and now the decision is if your charger is worth the time and energy going down to the lobby, standing in line to get access back in to the room you had not yet checked out of, and then heading back to the room praying there are no further complications. I’ve had the headache of door locks not working properly in the past and it’s a buzz kill. PITA unless the lock waits to 11am to reset.
When it happened to us we wondered the same thing. I'm not sure what would have happened had we left the room for breakfast or something. We didn't, so I guess we'll never know. It was around 10:30 when I attempted to check out only to find we already had been. However, Housekeeping started calling and knocking long before 10 AM, so we assumed we'd been checked out much earlier than that. :confused3

I just don’t want to hear everybody complaining when DVCchanges Check Out time to 10 a.m. as demonstrated with most Timeshares.
So I guess we can wonder Are we a vacation club or a timeshare ?

DVC is a timeshare-hotel hybrid. Most TS don’t bring clean towels in the middle of a weeklong stay, or have Bell Services to help with luggage, or offer free transportation to local theme parks or other sites of interest to tourists. And you’re right, many TS have 10 AM checkout time - and for some, check IN time is 6 PM.

That would be hard to support with cash guests who would expect the same times as the hotels. DVC is another owner who rents out their own rooms as well as supervising renting rooms to pay for trades. As an owner they have to follow the same rules as any other owner which wouldn't allow them to have varying check out/check in from any other owner. And I don't think they'd want the DVC rooms to differ from the hotels.

Well they didn't knock. We left at 11 am. Told housekeeping bye as we were leaving out.

Good discussion … at least I don’t have to worry anymore about Disney changing check in and check out times like they have already done over the years.

It’s not just DVC. I’ve never been harassed in any hotel except WDW resorts. One time staying at a wdw deluxe when we had airline check in desk and luggage service we took our luggage down early to Bags desk because I was meeting friends for breakfast in the restaurant. After luggage check in we went back to our room. We had left several things in the room including a change of clothing for flight and food in fridge to take for snacks.
when we walked into our room at 9am everything was gone, beds stripped. Our housekeeper said he thought we left! I asked how he would think that with outfits layed out on the bed and other belong still in the room and a Do Not Disturb on the door. Ugh.

Another time I was at Pop and 30 min before check out housekeeping started knocking on the door asking when we were leaving. They just camped out outside our door talking the entire time. Incredible. Then exactly at check out they knocked again. I said I’d be a minute. Really leaves a sour taste in leaving.

Oh they could change it for everyone so don't relax too much. ;)

We were able to get back into the room - we were testing out whether a new MagicBand+ was able to open the door. It worked fine. This was before I tried to do online checkout and discovered I was already checked out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks. That’s good to know. Then I won’t mind getting checked out if my key still works.

If that’s the case maybe cross-training some aspects could alleviate staff having nothing to do at 9 or 10am on days when more guests intend on utilizing rooms until the 11am checkout.
It isn't the training. It is the job title CMs are contracted to (Disney is EXTREMELY severe in holding CMs responsible for what they must & must not do pursuant to their roles)...So your idea needs to go up to Chapek to be addressed. 🤷‍♀️ 😉

the OP was in the room when the came in the morning, not away. If your in the room for the night use the lock bar at night.

Just left Copper Creek. No one knocked on our door this morning. We packed up and I tried to check out in the app at 10:28am. Turned out we were already checked out. 😂 Oh well. Removed the “room occupied” sign and went on our way. Great stay overall.
Yup, that always works for me too-put the "Room Occupied" sign out either first thing in the morning or even the night before and take it in when we leave. Never been bothered.

Not Disney, the Unions.
