Ages for Legoland?

This thread reminds me of that part in the Lego Movie, where the kid mentioned the age recommendation that is on the Lego Box.
The father responds "That is just a recommendation".

Opinions on the age range from kids that are 6 and older being bored, and kids that are younger and older really loving it.

I thought it was ideal for these groups
- pre-school aged children
- Kids that are very into Lego
- kids that have never been to DisneyLand, Universal, or any theme park that is superior to Lego
- Adults that are very into Lego.

Personally, I think that Lego should have had LegoLand built as a themed area of either DisneyLand or Universal.

But I have not been for almost 10 years, and they have added a lot.

I am looking forward to seeing the exhibit related to the making of the Lego Movie.
I was pretty certain that I saw pieces that do not exist. I know I saw pieces that do exist, but in colors that do not exist.
I was pretty sure I saw them put a hat on Emmet without taking off his hair first.
But I will have to watch the movie again, I might have missed stuff.

Only if they are really into Legos. Legoland has a really small age range - probably about ages 4 (younger than that, they're too small to ride most of the rides - everything has a HR there) through 10 (the rides aren't interesting enough for older kids).

We just got back for a trip with our DD, age 3, and our DS, age (just turned) 9. Both of them enjoyed Legoland, but we had 2 day tickets, and only used 1 day!

DS9 really enjoyed the sets from the Lego Movie, which are on exhibit for the rest of the year. He also really enjoyed the Star Wars section, where they have models of several Star Wars scenes. These two sections were also his father's favorites. :)

DD3 loved Legoland, and would have loved to be able to do even more of it. We took her on a little car ride through lego jungle animals, a little fairytales boat ride, and a bigger boat ride around the lake. She played for a long time in the duplo play area. She would have liked to do more, but she isn't particularly tall for her age.

Both kids liked the Legoland aquarium pretty well, as well.

Anyway, both my kids really enjoyed it, but they enjoyed very different things. I think they were just about the right ages for this trip, and I'm glad we got to do it this year. I really don't think it would hold the interest of a teenager who wasn't very into legos.

I think if you are coming all the way from the East Coast, there are places your sons would enjoy a lot more for a full day than Legoland, like Knotts Berry Farm or Magic Mountain. There are some neat things to see at Legoland with all of the models, but the rides are small and generic with Lego theming.

If they are huge Lego fans who would never get an opportunity to see something similar in Florida, it might be worth a day, but only if you were going to be in San Diego for other things. I wouldn't go all the way down there just for that.
