Agent P on your device

I don't know if anyone will know the answer to this question, but I will toss it out there.
Does anyone know if doing Agent P on your device requires cell service or just Wi-Fi? I'm not interested in draining the batteries on our phones, but both of our boys have our old smartphones (Samsung Galaxy S3) that do not have current cell service, but obviously still work on Wi-Fi (they currently use them like Android ipods for lack of a better term).
I imagine that this would work if you can play Agent P on in park Wi-Fi alone. Has anyone tried this or know what was said at the kiosk if you played recently with your own device?

Thanks!

This would be nice to know as well! My son has my old Iphone he could use.

We just used their device last December. Is that no longer an option?

I believe it still is, I had read somewhere (can't remember whether it was here or elsewhere) that the reason they were moving to use your own device was that they were no longer able to get new FONE's meaning that over time their supply would dwindle as they break. Didn't want my boys to be disappointed if they were out when they went to the kiosk ready to play. Also I am imagining that the display would be larger on your own device than the tiny screen on the flip phones they give you (someone who has used their own device could verify that for us).

We are flying down on Saturday so if no one knows for sure, I will verify when we get to Epcot and try it.

I thought I read somewhere that Agent P closed at 6 pm. If using your own device would this time still apply or could you continue to play as long as you started before then?

Agent P closes 45 minutes prior to fireworks. However, the game stays active so as long as you device is still connected and active (doesn't matter if it is personal or Agent P FONE) you can still play. You can even play through EMH as long as you keep the phone active. If it times out then you are done for the night.

FONES are still available. However, the supply is dwendling faster than it use to. They are now smart phones with bigger screens than the old flip phone. With the flip phone the attraction lost maybe 1 to 2 phones a day. Now they are losing upwards of 10 or more a day. With only about 700 phones in rotation losing 10 a day means you are loosing half the phones in a month. Not sure if 10 is the real number as I haven't been a CM in a few years but it wouldn't surprise me with the switch to smart phones.

It should just use wifi as you get go to a webpage that hosts the game.

Thank you! I think (hope) my kids will really like Agent P but it fits best into our evening World Showcase touring and I was afraid we wouldn't have much time. This will be great!

Is there an App you download? Does annyone know what the name of it is? Thanks!

Just double checked online and I see the Disney website is saying it only goes to 6! I will contact my old agent friends who are still active in the field to confer what the times are. If it indeed closes at 6 that is a massive cut.

Great info wilkeliza! Check back when you find out if the kiosks close at 6pm for sure. If that is the case, we'll just have to make sure we get a game started before 6:00 if we are going to be in the park later that day.

You go to the website and the people at the kiosk give you a passcode to enter. You can play past 6 but if you get kicked out you cannot get back in. We got kicked out once when it froze mid play. Also we were there Easter week and too many people were playing and the system kicked us out then. They couldn't let us play again because every country had more people playing than the system can handle. I don't imagine that would be much of a problem in the evening. If you get kicked out the password is different to get back in. We had a lot of fun playing it though

@colleen0928 and @popeboy I just got confirmation that they do close at 6pm now :furious: I'm going to have to edit all my information about Agent P now. I feel so terrible for so many of my CM friends because that is a massive hours cut for at least 10 people I'm close to :sad2: I'm kind of in shock right now that they stop at 6.

I do wonder if it is due to the parents who use to complain about it being too dark to play and not budget cuts since I see some of the schedules and know their schedules hours are past 6pm.

It closed at 6pm mid-March. I believe it was part of the budget cuts, not complaints from parents. I thought the previous time was ridiculous, but 6pm is ludicrouso_O
