My DS is 16, but looks to be in his mid-20s.
I have two related questions:
1-I understand that there is an upcharge for more than two adults in a room. What proof do I need for him to be in our room with my DH, DD and me and not pay the surcharge? He does not have a driver's license or passport yet, nor any official doc with his birthdate on it.
2-He will at times be with friends of his from home who are older. How do they restrict entry to the Pleasure Island clubs? Do they require a disney ID/ticket/room card or do they card the customers for other ID?

Thanks in advance, I've been lurking here for a while and I like all the info.
Our 180 day limit is this wednesday...it's CRT for me and DD!!! I hope!!!

*He is a child until 10 years old and then a Junior until 17 years old. 18 and up is adult.
*Admission required to enter Pleasure Island nightclubs. Guests must be 21 years of age or older with acceptable forms of identification to enter BET SoundStage Club, 8TRAX, Mannequins Dance Palace and Motion. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a person 21 years of age or older to enter Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse. Valid photo I.D. required. All Clubs are non-smoking.

I can only address question 1.

I don't believe this will be an issue. Cast members do not usually question guests' truthfulness. However, when you register at the resort, have DS waiting elsewhere for you. They don't need to see every one in the party. But, if you're still nervous bring a copy of his birth certificate. ( Don't bring the original)

First, welcome to the DIS!!! Your first post! :)

If it concerns you and you want to avoid those stares (I know, I have a 12 year old son that is 5'9 and weighs 165...he'll probably be 6'2 and 250 at 16! :)) you can go with him to get a state ID for him...I think it's about $15 in our state, it's just an identification card for check writing purposes and stuff....I doubt you'd get asked but atleast if you get those strange looks you can say "I knew this would happen, so we had him get an id...care to see? It's amazing how my little baby looks like a big old man! :)"

Have a great time planning!!!

This is what my Aunt did for my cousin...she never had a problem at WDW, but had problems with Airlines wanting to see her ID to board the plane...she looked like she was 20 at age 12....

Does he have a high school ID? That will show the grade he's in won't it? Grant it he could have been left behind but maybe that will suffice. As someone else said I doubt they would question you further if you said hes 16 when asked. But like someone else said..a photo copy of his birth certificate should be fine.

i always brought my kids' school IDs/report cards & copy of BC when traveling, especially as they may be questioned in the airport. in all liklihood, no one will ask, but always better safe than sorry, imho :)
anyone can enter PI itself. room key, etc will not be sufficient to enter the 21 & over clubs (BET Soundstage, 8TRAX, Mannequins Dance Palace, Motion and Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club). photo ID is required (driver's license, government issued ID, military ID). Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at the Adventurers Club and The Comedy Warehouse.
hth :)
