Quick question. I think I know the answer. When booking my trip, the age of the child is based on when you will be IN DisneyWorld, right? My daughter is only 9 right now and I plan to book for next Sept (2010). She turns 10 in June. I book her as a 10 yr old right? Not the age she is now at the time of making the ressie.

As far as food, unless they do the free dining thing I'll probably pay OOP (renting DVC points so we'll eat breakfast and lunch at "home"). Can she eat anything she wants or does she have to eat off the adult menu?

Thanks. It's been many yrs since our last trip and I feel like I'm starting from scratch since so much has changed!

Yes, she will be 10. Its based on when you go not when you book.

You book her as a 10 year old. You use the age that she will be when you arrive.

If you're paying for your food OOP then you can order whatever you'd like. Plenty of adults even order kids meals because the portions of regular meals are so large. The only requirement for ordering is when you want to use DDP credits. OOP customers can order however they please.

If you are renting a DVC reservation, you can't get free dining. You can only get free dining as part of a package through Disney. DVC points are not part of a package deal.

As the PP have mentioned you would need to book her as a 10 year old. The only difference it will make is with the Disney park pass. Meals she can still order off the kids menu if she wants. The way Disney works is if you are celebrating a birthday while at Disney you pay as the age you are when you first get there. For example my DD will be 5 on the day we arrive at Disney, but two days later she turns 6. For all intents and purposes to Disney she will be considered a 5 year old because that is the age she was when we first arrived.

Although your 10yo can order off the kids menu where there is one, she would still pay the adult price for buffets, character meals or dinner shows, no matter how little she eats.
