I know that this has probably been asked before, but the search engine for this site is giving me problems....:confused3

My son is now 3, and he will be 4 by the time we go to WDW in December. And I was wondering at what age did your children start Pin Trading?

I want him to be responsible for the pins, but also to have fun, because we will be puchasing the pins and all. Am I asking too much for a 4 year old?

I don't think I would have started my kids at 4. I'm not sure any of them would have really "gotten" it at that age. Plus, the lanyard is REALLY heavy once you get a few pins on there!

I'm starting my kids this trip - at 5 and 7. I'm not sure that I totally trust my high-strung 5 year old to not lose his lanyard or lose a pin, so I'm going to carry it for him most of the time. The 7 year old is really into it though. :thumbsup2

I'd say to wait a couple of years. OR you can start trading for him/with him now so he has a good start for the next few trips?

Have a great time. That age is a great time to take them!:goodvibes

I actually waited until last year to start my oldest--then 6, almost 7. He loved it. I had the foresight to get a lanyard and pins for my other younger two (then 3, almost 4 and just turned 2) just in case. The 2yo had no interest, as I had thought. My 3yo wanted the lanyard and the pins, but did not want to trade. This year at 4yo I think he'll be trading; he talks about do it without any type of prompting. I'll still have a lanyard and pins for DS2 just in case, but if anything I think he'll just want to have them.

The lanyards do get heavy. Lots of times during our last trip, I ended up wearing the lanyards.

We started our daughter trading early (3ish) and she loved it! Yes, the lanyard got heavy, so we would lighten it up a bit by moving pins to our lanyards.

Looking forward to more pin trading in February.
