Age for feeding animals

I have a 4 year old who really wants to go to Seaworld this trip. I have thought about adding Busch Gardens, especially when I read about feeding animals. Then I noticed it says ages 5 and up? Does anyone know why? How strict are they with this? He has always loved kangaroos and it would make his day to get to feed and pet one.

Wow, I didn't realize they had changed it. I guess it is for safety reasons.???
A few years back a boy actually was bitten or bumped or hurt in some way at the dolphin feeding area in one of the parks. Maybe this was an OSHA recommendation?
