The Cosby Show is another great example. Earle Hyman who played Cliff's dad is only 11 years older than Bill Cosby. Ethel Ayler who played Cliff's mom is 14 years older than Phylicia Rashad. Sabrina Le Beauf who was Sondra was only 10 years younger than her tv mom, Phylicia Rashad.

I think of the original cast of 90210, the actors that played Steve and Andrea were both in their 30's.

I also remember in that awful movie Alexander, Angelina Jolie played Colin Farrell's mom, even though she's only 1 year older than him!

Laurence Fishburne played Cuba Gooding Jr's dad in Boyz n the Hood and he's only 6 years older than Cuba.

Estelle Getty played Bea Arthur's mom on Golden Girls but was younger than her. She was also younger than Betty White.

Estelle Getty was actually the youngest of the 4 women.

Rue McClanahan was the youngest by several years. She was born in 1934. Getty in 1923, and White/Arthur in 1922.

I knew that Estelle Getty was younger than Bea Arthur. So funny, because in the show, she's made-up to look much older than all 3 of the other women, and she DOES look much older than them.

In the original Manchurian Candidate, Angela Lansbury played Laurence Harvey's [very evil!] mother. At the time, Lansbury was 36 and Harvey was 33.

PS: If you have not seen this movie, please do. It is beyond good. (FWIW, the 2004 remake doesn't come close to the original -- the original was light years better.)
