I've got a question or two for anyone that uses these sites How are these reservations treated at the properties themselves? They are treated as RCI exchanges, right? Even though we aren't owners, can we call and request a location at the resort?

I believe they are treated as an RCI exchange as these companies use the "extra" weeks from RCI

We're leaving in 2 hours for our AFVclub vaction. We have used this 5 times in the last 4 years. You are treated just lilke an RCI guest. They do try to set-up timeshare meeting like I'm sure they do with anyone else. Just say no, if you want.

Not sure what you are asking here. You make reservations on the website or over the phone at any resort that is available at the time. You can call the resort's, after you have made a reservation, to "confirm" your reservations and make request at that time. Of course, as with any other reservation, they are only requests. I know some places have websites where you can visit and check in before arrival and make request there. One place we stayed at called it the Diamond Lane and got my requests at the Cascades, top floor.

Make sure you take your confirmation letter you printed out with you. They ask for them. Bryan's Spanish Cove would not let us check in until they got a Faxed confirmation from RCI as I left ours on the table at home. Even though we had military ID, Driver's License and the Credit Card the reservation was made with.

we have used the AFVC before, but it's been 2 years...I didn't know we could request to be placed on the ground floor, near a pool, etc. I do remember being asked to participate in the timeshare tour, but we politely declined and it wasn't a problem.

I used the GETO site for a trip in Sept. to CPGV, and am using it again for a trip in Dec. I can't believe the value this is!

Upon check-in at CPGV, there was no mention of it being a "Govt" reservation. In fact, I don't remember them ever even mentioning this during my stay. We loved the CPGV and would love to return there again! I hope these places continue to come up on the GETO program!
