Has anyone been to the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian recently? I would like to know of any recent reviews/opinions. It sounds wonderful, but a bit expensive. Is it worth it?
Thank you!!

My husband, and I love having afternoon tea at the GF. We make it our "late lunch" and usually have the Tea for Two.

It's so nice to get away from the parks for a while and just relax in beauty of the Grand Floridian.

There have been excellent reviews recently of the A/T. We already have ours booked for October, can't wait!!!!

If you have the chance definately go. It really is a nice break from the parks. The last time we went we got the Grand Tea which included tea sandwiches, scones and tarts and then pastries or English Trifle. It is very filling and you can take your time you are not rushed at all.
I am going by myself this September but I made a PS to go, it is my treat to myself.

My 7 yr old dd will be attending the Wonderland Tea Party at GF. Since the GF Afternoon tea sounds great, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I would have time to take Tea while my DD is at the Wonderland Tea Party? TIA

I did it with my mom three years ago, then my sister-in-law took her bridal party in June. Both times it was quite wonderful! I'd definitely do it again.

I ate there two weeks ago with my 11 year old daughter and we absolutely loved it. We both had the full tea. The waiter we had was fantastic. He could tell my daughter was a little nervous and went out of his way to take care of us. He brought extra tea for her to try (at no charge) and took time to explain everything to her. We both thought the scones with Devonshire cream and strawberry jam were to die for.

My girls did the tea party last week, and the Afternoon Tea did not start until the wonderland tea was over:mad: I wish they would make it the same time so the adults could enjoy a tea too.
I did walk past it and it looked divine, we are going back in Dec and I am already planning on going. Even if I have to go alone, while dh stays with the kids!!

Thanks Momtomootoo,
That would have ben nice while I was waiting for her. Since I see they also offer a child's tea, I may see about taking her with me yo have tea later on in the week.

We don't arrive at Disney until the 14th, officially, but on the 13th, we will drive my honey's mom from her home in DeLand to the GF for the Afternoon Tea. This will give them a special Disney thing to do together and it keeps my mother outlaw from ruining our vacation. lol I think the Tea will be fun. Mickey

I went to the A/T this past July with my dd 9yrs.old. Just us. My dh wouldn't be caught dead having tea in the afternoon. We had such a great time. We were staying at the GF for our trip and made a nice afternoon by shopping at the gift shops and then going for tea. My dd doesn't drink hot tea, but they have all the teas there iced if you want. She had the rasberry tea. I had the same only the hot version. We both had tea sandwiches, scones, yummy strawberries & fantastic creme and little petit fores (sp?). It was a great afternoon together just the two of us. We made believe we were "high society", daintily using the napkin, pointing our pinky fingers. We had a blast. It felt like a special time for just the 2 of us. I have teenage dd's who didn't come with us for this vacation, they stayed home, worked and god only knows if they had any parties at the house while we were gone, so time alone with my younger one felt very special and I'm so glad we did the A/T. If you have a chance to do it with your dd, I say go for it and it will be a special time for both of you...

Has anyone ever heard of an adult ordering the Mrs.Pott's tea?

I'm taking my parents on their first trip to WDW for the 40th anniversary. As an extra special treat, Dad gets the MK Train Tour and Mom gets the Afternoon Tea - but dad HATES all the fancy food stuff and never drinks tea. Mrs. Pott's tea would be perfect for him.

Thanks,

I have no first hand experience with this, but my first thought was, "this is Disney World, of course he can!" And I bet that's they way it is too.

Maine-Jennifer,

Here's the description of the Mrs. Potts Tea from the menu:

"For the younger 'tea lover' in your party, we offer a variety of tea sandwiches, tuna salad, ham and cheese and peanut butter and jelly on white bread. We serve our magical dark tea (chocolate milk), followed with a choice of 2 pastries. 8.50 per guest".

For other dining options at tea (beers, specialty drinks, cheeses, etc), just click on the link I posted in my previous posting above. There's additional information posted by various people in that thread. Hope that helps!

My sister and my Mom and I had tea on the same afternoon that my nieces were having the Wonderland Tea Party. My sister arranged to have her DH pick up the girls at the end of their tea party (Wonderland party started at 1:30 and lasted until 2:30).
(The men folk in our party had lunch at the Floridian Cafe at 1:15pm so they would be done in time to pick up the girls)
The GF tea does not start until 2:00pm. We were nearly the first ones to be seated and we did not leave until 3:15pm.... We had a very nice relaxing time, though.
