Afternoon Tea at DLH beginning 1/22/2016

It sounds like it will be very nice. Very clever way to produce revenue in the early afternoon when the restaurant would otherwise not be busy. 12-3 is a little early for afternoon tea though.

I just got off the phone with a cast member, so either they are still tweaking the prices, or the cast members haven't been given clear information. The premium was given to me as $65, so it may be $60, or $65, or ..., when they are done deciding. AP's discounts apply, and each person can choose classic or premium. They don't have to be the same 'package' for the entire party. (These questions came up in a group I'm in, so thought I would post it here. :) )

I just got off the phone with the Dine Line, and the CM told me that AP discounts do not apply at this time since this is a special event test run, not a permanent offering. If the discount will be a deal breaker, I would make sure to double check whether it will/will not apply.

Thank you. :-)

I've done Afternoon tea at several places and those prices are outrageous. I've never paid that for an afternoon tea.

Where have you done afternoon tea for significantly less? The only times I've done tea were at a Marriott hotel in London and on a cruise ship. These prices are right in line with both (actually, a bit less).

Afternoon tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills is around $80/pp, so the S55 prices aren't bad in comparison. The question will be whether the quality of the food and the experience justify the price. At the Peninsula, they do. Hoping the S55 experience will be quite nice and disneyfied.

I had not seen any info on this yet here...or maybe I missed it. Anyhoo...I found this when I was checking out the PTN packages on the DLR website. Looking forward to doing this with my daughter.
Too bad they do not mention the cost.

Within the glamorous Hollywood-style setting of Steakhouse 55 at Disneyland Hotel, prepare for one of the most regal rituals to survive a bygone era—afternoon tea. Originally introduced to European high society in the 1800s, this relaxing respite promises to forge unforgettable memories with family and friends.

From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM beginning January 22, 2016, you’re invited to sip loose leaf teas and herbal infusions while treating your taste buds to an assortment of delightful morsels. The menu includes traditional scones, tea sandwiches, desserts and more. Aperitifs, wines by the glass, ports and cordials are also available for an additional charge.

Thank you so much for posting this!!

Wdw vets who often go to The Grand Floridians Tea and have our first Disneyland visit coming up in March.

I think I will "gift it" for Christmas! I won't be able to do the reservation yet but I'll make a scroll or something.

I just can't see paying $50+ for tea & finger foods, not even for Disney. Even if it's 'all you can eat', which I assume it's not.

But I do wonder what the gluten free options are.

There's two hotels here in Portland that serve tea $35-$39. When we go to Victoria, I do the tea at the Gardens. It's 33.75 for Afternoon tea.
Just to name a few.

My girls and I enjoy afternoon teas, we are going to one tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing about this one. My daughters said that they would love for Disney to have a Mad Hatter Tea Party! :-)

Haha, even I would love a Mad Hatter Tea Party! How fun would that be?! They should pass that idea along at City Hall!

I look forward to seeing some of the treats! Have fun!

Naturally it's always possible to find someplace else in the world that charges more than DL, but the more appropriate comparison would be with similar experiences that can be found locally. From a quick internet search it appears Disney's tea is priced on par with other high-end hotel teas in the area (although DL's kids pricing is a bit on the high side). Afternoon tea at non-hotel restaurants can be significantly cheaper, however.

Update: I spoke with a CM at the DLH who thinks the AP discount will apply to the Afternoon Tea. She has not been told specifically that the discount will not apply. So let's see what happens. For those who will be doing the Tea, please post here about whether the discount was applied.

ETA: I see the Parks Blog has confirmed that the AP discount will apply.

Well, here in Hawaii, it's like $75 minimum, and $145/per person for the deluxe. $40 isn't too bad compared to that!

Here in Australia, you wouldn't get a decent afternoon tea for under $65 per person and most are closer to $100. We will be doing this for our trip in February.

I have my reservations in for Friday, Feb 26. I'm excited to try this. I also remember the Mary Poppins Tea Party with fondness.
