How do you families do it for a whole week??!

We went last week for three days. Two of which were spent in the parks, and one day as a rest day.

We took our two kids, ages 5 and 2.5 down to spend half a week with my parents and half at Disney. Stayed at Riverside. It was great to be able to take a midday break, but still it was a lot to hoof it to the bus stop, then take the kids swimming after getting back to the room.

I found myself checking my watch every now and then and saying to myself 'gotta get back to the magic kingdom'

It was exhausting for us, how do you fare?

We did 7 nights 8 days of DISNEY a couple weeks ago and it was a blast! I planned and saved for three years and we had the PERFECT vacation ~ only thing is ~ I am sooooooo depressed that we are back. I have already made up my husbands mind that we ARE GOING BACK NEXT APRIL!

I am starting to think there is something "weird and wrong" with me. I think about Disney most of the time!

We really went WILD during our trip.
dh 41 yo
ME 36 yo
dd 7 yo

I think that's it!

We usually are exhausted after our trips but it is the BEST exhausted you could ever imagine! There is nothing like being tired out from WDW!! I always try to plan a quiet day at home before we get back into the swing of school, work etc. :p

Well,

On our past trips we only spent two weeks in Orlando, so we try and fit everything in and it's always carried out at breakneck speed.

This year, we have "pushed the boat out" and we are coming over for a three weeks.

This means that due to the heat etc, we will be spending 1/2 days at the parks coupled with 1/2 days at the water parks.

Three weeks may cost "mega-bucks", but it'll be worth it for the rest days inbetween so that we are not all "Dis'd" out!

repeat after me "we WILL come again, we will come back again..." it is amazing how much less frantic you will feel and how much more patience you will have with everyone when you don't pressure yourself or your family with the "trip of a lifetime" mentality. ;)

SandraC, I know exactly what you mean. We went in December, and I started planning for our May trip in January. I am usually exhausted on our return, but it is a good type of exhaustion!!! We usually go, go, go while we are there...and usually we are there for a week, so it takes a good week at home to fully recooperate. During that time, I am starting to plan the next trip;) I am so addicted to Disney that I started working at the Disney Store almost 2 years ago to fund my addiction--LOL. My husband asked me if we will ever go on a vacation to anywhere but WDW...I told him, Sure, we can go on the cruise ship, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Japan, up to NY to see Lion King on Broadway...get my drift? Right now I think I have him somewhat placated by agreeing to stay at different resorts on every trip. Anyway, it is so nice to hear from folks that have the same feelings that I do!!!

:) :bounce: :) :bounce: :) :bounce: :bounce: :) :bounce: :) :bounce: :)

We have always stayed at WDW for a week . .sometimes we feel its not enough!! Our vacations have always been relaxing and very much enjoyable, we HATE coming home:( We always plan on returning every year and that's what keeps us going I think . . .it seems that the week flies by!! Maybe its because your children are younger and you are running around all over the place . . .ours are now 12 and 8 and we started taking them when they were 9 and 5. ;) I think as the kids get older, you'll find it more relaxing!!

Sandra,
I know EXACTLY what you mean by "depart in tears."

I had been to WDW as a kid 3 times, my dh and I went after we graduated from college, but May 2000 was the first trip with the kids. We fell in LOVE with Disney... and most especially seeing our children experience what we had previously....to see my kids laugh on the Dumbo ride and know that *I* had done the same when I was 7 was just tooooooo much!!!

Luckily the kids were tired on the flight home, so they didn't see their mom and dad crying buckets because we were leaving!!! In fact, we were SOOOO weepy, that I got LOST driving from the airport to our house!!!! (and no, I wasn't headed south back toward WDW!!)

Within 2 days we had our ressies for our next trip...THAT SEPTEMBER!! Thing is, we didn't want to spoil the kids memories of the first trip by having them already thinking of the next so WE DIDN'T TELL THEM!!! They found out THAT morning that they were going BACK to DISNEY!!! It was soooo wonderful!

It's a GREAT place....and while it isn't a *budget* vacation...you get what you pay for!!!

ohiominnie :p

p.s. only 48 more hours and I'll be at the WORLD! :)

Honestly some of both but most of all I'm sad because I left my HOME!!!!!!!!

It's so wonderful to see others expressing the same feelings my husband and I have about visiting WDW. We made our first trip last October with our then 21 month old daughter. While riding the monorail on our first evening at Disney, we began talking about when we'd make our next trip. When we returned home my husband promptly made a countdown calendar to hang on our fridge. Only 567 more days to go. :D

We just got back from a 5 day trip and it has taken 3 days just to feel human again!! EXHAUSTED!!

I'll admit that the first day back I was so tired that I thought "I'll never do that again - our next trip is to lay on the beach in Hawaii"....but, then I got a little sleep and lo and behold - I've already started planning our return to MK!

It's very tiring and costs about as much as Hawaii, but WDW is SO very worth it! All I have to do is think about my 4 yo DS's total belief in all the magic and his absolute joy at meeting all his favorite characters "for real".

My Disney trips are for my kids and it just doesn't get any better from their point of view! I'll go back to the beach when they're grown.

Went to WDW for 1st time w/ 3 kids. My kids are of widely different ages and EVERYONE had a good time (from the teenager to the toddler) And everyone was so accomodating to the toddler. It was so amazing because I was able to be with all 3 kids, have an exciting vacation, and get a break myself because all of the kids were so occupied. I have this thing where I just can't leave my kids, but, because I work, I get very burned out and need a break. WDW solves the dilemma for me ( I get the much needed vacation, but my kids have a great time too)

We stayed for 5 days, which was too short. And I'm not saying this because we didn't get to see everything. It's just when I was really allowing myself to relax and have fun, it seemed that we were leaving. I was in such a funk when I got back I could not really concentrate at work for about a week. It was bizarre and DH was worried. Since then, I've been thinking a lot about going back. I can't tell you how great it is to know that I am not alone in my thinking, because I really did feel like maybe there was something wrong with me. I am planning our next trip and spending a lot of time on the boards... trying to plan the perfect trip. Glad I'm not alone!!!!

Boy am I ever glad I read this thread!!! I thought I was weird when I was already talking about and somewhat planning our next trip to Disney on the last day of our last trip which was last Monday. I have spent hours at night after the kids are asleep wandering around the boards and getting ideas, checking out codes etc.... We don't even have a firm date set yet but I have everything and its brother planned out so when we do I can just DO IT LOL

This trip was the first time we had ever stayed onsite which made leaving just that much harder. It was such a magical trip this time, so relaxing, much less stressful because of the limited driving we had to do, ability to get back to our resort quickly etc.... Dh looked sooooooo depressed when we left that I asked what was wrong. He said it was the first trip, and we have been on at least eight since our oldest ds was five and he is seven now, that he didnt want to go back to work. Normally our trips are so stressful because of all the driving we have to do getting to and from the parks to our offsite hotel and trying to find someplace to eat, noise at the hotels, that dh is glad to get back home. This time it was a different story. He was actually actively helping me plan our next get away.
