After three years in a row......

We have been eighteen times in the past five years. (twenty-one total) We never get tired of Disney. Disney is for people of all ages. My husband's parents who are in their eighties have just as much fun as our five-year-old who has been going since he was three months old. If Disney was full of mostly thrill rides then the in-laws and the little ones wouldn't have any fun. If you don't enjoy Disney then don't go. I agree with everyone else...leaves more room for those of us who do enjoy it.
:cool1:
I agree with Nancyg. It's more about being with family and experiencing a feeling than having an action packed vacation.

I go about twice a month and still find so many different things to do. This board has opened my eyes to all that disney offers. If you research you can find different activities, arts and crafts and other things that the kids will enjoy and learn from without having to worry about thrill rides. After all arent the disney vacations mostly about the kids.

to each his or her own. Check out Busch Gardens Tampa they have tons of coasters and a zoo and you don't have to worry about using your imagination or creativity becaue they are not required.I think AAA offers discounted tickets. I know for a fact there are some cheap hotels nearby. In the meantime we'll be getting ready for trip 22 to WDW. I hope you find your magic in a theme park somewhere everyone deserves that. :sunny:

Maxx,
You need to stop and smell the roses. Literally! :cool1: At the very least look at the beautful flowers, people and sights. Like a previous poster said have you stopped to see the :sunny: set? :confused3

We could take the family to Disney for a week, never ride a thrill ride and have the time of our lives! :woohoo:

Life is something different to everyone. Me thinks you need to start learning to appreciate what you do have and start offering to do things for others who are not so fortunate. Maybe then you can learn to enjoy your life! :wizard:

I think that my heart would break if Disney ever changed their core!

One thing to remember, if you think that ticket prices are so high, break it down by how much you would pay to get into one park. How many shows are there in one park... how much would you pay to go see one of those shows if they came to your town. then add the parades, fireworks, ambiance, rides, and ability to escape reality for a moment and just be...
It's worth every single penny, and I couldn't afford to live without it! :wizard:

WHile I agree that prices are on the high side for food and souvenirs (just like Universal and every other theme park), what about all the value resorts that have been added in the last several years? We stayed at Pop one night in Decemberfor $59/night. We couldn't stay on property for less than $89/night in 1986! I think a Disney vacation is far more affordable for families now. However, if it's all about thrill rides for you, please do go to IOA, US, etc. WDW isn't just about a adrenaline, it's about magic.

I won't be going back until each Disney park has atleast 4 to 5 thrill rides and newer kiddie rides.

I guess we won't be hearing from you for some time.

Sorry WDW is not for you and that it took you three trips to figure that out.

Remember the DISboard credo, "Some people get Disney, some people don't!" Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I consider those that are objective and tend to ignore those that are absolute in negativity.

Disney requires two things from us: an immagination and a heart like a child. There's magic around every corner at Disney. You just have to be willing to take the time to notice it. I love the fact that Disney is a "theme park" and not a thrill park. Although I love thrill rides, I love the different themeing of Disney parks more. I love being submerged in the magic from the moment I arrive at my resort. It's the small things at Disney that make up the magic not more thrill rides. Sorry!

I don't have a problem with the ticket prices going up. However, I don't think the addition of a couple of true thrill rides(READ BIG ROLLER COASTERS), would change Disney. There will still be something for everyone, and most of the rides would still be for families.

Hey Nancyg56 we must be close!! Spent many happy years at Riverside Park (will never be 6 Flags to me!) This will be our 4th trip to WDW, not many compared to some here, but I love going back every 4 or 5 years. Like putting on a favorite old slipper! It's not rides, it's shows and shops and food and clean parks and so much more.

To the OP -hit Cedar Point!! When my DS got tall enough, we went on a thrill ride vacation - 6 Flags New Jersey - Kennywood Pittsburg and Cedar Point Ohio. Did 20 something roller coasters in 5 days!!! :cool1:
But that is not what I look for in a WDW vacation. We will hit US/IOA while we're down there for a few thrill rides and a different atmosphere. But you can't expect Disney to be something it isn't. That's why there are other places to go on vacation!!

In my opinion...in certain aspects WDW is not as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong...some of the new rides are great. However, some of the older rides that are no longer around were great at the time.

We went to WDW a number of times in the 70's, and then 80's after Ecpot opened. Bring back the original Figment, and World of Motion, etc. I remember when waiting in line for Space Moutain there were some cool things. Bring THAT stuff back.

No...WDW is not a thrills park and I hope it never will be.

Gotta agree with TDS here; if it's thrills you seek, you need to go to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Lot's of Coasters and stuff. One day ticket is $57 though (2 day is $99.99. At Disney a MYW for 1 day is $63, 2 days is $125.

Unless you're REALLY into big thrills, I think Disney gives you the best bang for the buck. The maintenance of bathrooms/rides seems better. The gardens at Disney are much nicer. The night show at Busch (fireworks) is awful. The food quality is comparable to a counter service restaurant at Disney, but I thought the prices were about 10-20% higher (soft drinks, ice cream, etc.). Souvenirs seemed just as expensive as WDW. Lines are just as long, but no fastpass.

Somewhere on these boards there's a thread about how Six Flags ain't Disney either.

Just this Disney Dude's opinion, though. :smooth:

I'm a great big Disney lover, but I'll agree that the parks could use some TLC and oomph. I think that a couple of amazingly themed thrill-type (Expedition Everest, for example) rides would be a great addition--as well as more exquisitely themed child friendly attractions. Seriously, the 100 Acre Wood play area? I've seen better themed and executed playgrounds 1000 times, with none of the Disney money behind them. We all know that Disney could do a LOT better than what they hand us sometimes.

As for pricing? I agree that supply and demand help dictate where you place your prices.. but shouldn't the original idea behind the parks factor in, too? I understand basic economics.. marginal profit and whatnot.. but that doesn't mean it fits with Walt's ideal that REGULAR families should be able to afford a vacation to his parks. JMO, though.

(All this coming from a woman with 2 trips planned for the next year.)

Real close!!!!!!!!!!! West Suffield for me. I cannot think about Riverside being anything but, and have not gone. I used to be able to hear the races on a Saturday night when I lived in Enfield. DH and I show our age by reminiscing about the "days" when Riverside was the place to be.
