I'm thinking about riding soarin at epcot, but I'm a bit concerned. Has anyone been dizzy or off balance after riding it? All that motion might make me dizzy and I would probably have to go back to the hotel instead of on more attractions. :confused3

It is a very smooth ride...I have had trouble with motion sickness since I was in grade school and didn't have a bit of trouble with this ride.

easy as pie....ask them to seat you on the lower (bottom) row so you do not go up as high as the other two row. Also, avoid Expedation Everest

Here's MY experience. I have major motion sickness. I rode this ride (if I feel something is iffy, I at least give it a try) and there were just a few times that I either closed my eyes or just looked up/down/away from the screen. That keeps me from experiencing the sensation of movement. I enjoyed the ride and had no ill effects afterward.

No one can really tell you what YOU will feel on any given attraction.

I go on lots of attractions that are iffy for me. There are things that I won't EVEN try (Mission Space), some that I carefully observe before I try (ToT, can only go on it once per day), some I try and hate afterwards and never go on again (Rockin Roller Coaster), and some that have never given me any problems (Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain).

I have lots of "tricks" that help me survive situations as long as they are brief!

You shouldn't have a problem with Soaring. There really isn't much motion, just the illusion of motion. I've never seen anybody that's been affected by it.

I actually got a little dizzy and quesy from riding it...Although I tend to get motion sick pretty easily lately :( It wasn't terrible...just a general uncomfortable feeling... After the ride I just found a nice quiet place to sit for a few minutes, (the feeling passed in 15 minutes or less) then rejoined the rest of my group.
....Nothing like Mission Space (I spent about an hour in the fetal position somewhere in Japan, basically just wanting to die.)
Soarin' Is actually a very smooth ride...I was sitting toward the top...which probably didn't help things...next time I definitly gonna ask to be seated in the bottom (closest to the ground) row.

I was surprised by how smooth and just generally pleasant Soarin' was. I'm terrified of heights and have trouble going up staircases where you can see between stairs. No problem with Soarin'. Thumbs up.

My 16-year old son got nauseous after Soarin'. We think it's because he rode it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

DH uses ginger tablets for motion sickness... no side effects at all -- from the pills or from Sorin'. Give them a try, it has helped him enjoy coasters and all sorts of things he used to skip. :thumbsup2

I frequently get sick on simulator type rides (Star Tours makes me nauseous and I thought I was going to pass out after Mission Space). But I didn't get sick at all from Soarin. It's gentle and the movie doesn't seem to promote dizziness. (I've gotten motion sick at I-Max movies too). But just to be safe I wouldn't ride it more than once in the same day.

I like the Disneyland ride better. I need to try the WDW again.
Linda R. , Mission Space has 2 experiences now. When I saw this in June, I tried the easy one and it was great.

I get motion sick VERY easily. I had a great time on Soarin and did not get sick. There were a couple of times I closed my eyes and the motion feeling instantly stopped. Have fun!!!! The smells with the different scenes are really cool. :thumbsup2

Not at all...it's very smooth and actually has become my favorite ride at Epcot. My mom and dad even liked it and they are both big babies ;) --definately give it a shot, I think you'll be glad you did! :goodvibes

maybe you should try motion sickness pills... i take one before i go to the parks and it helps me everytime.. because without it..

I saw an episode of Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel where they tested many various methods of controlling motion sickness and the only things that worked were OTC remedies and ginger pills.

Anyway, I get motion sick also and I was fine on Soarin'. I have ridden it 4 and 5 times in a short period of time as well. Never tried Mission Space thanks to the info on the DISboards .... but I did ride EE and got mildly ill during the backwards motion. It passed after 15-20 mins, but I probably won't ride it again.

Don't worry about Soarin' tho!

I can absolutely understand your fear. I fought with my friends when I went in June because I have a condition where rides like that make my blood pressure drop and I pass out but I can assure you its perfectly alright as I rode it multiple times.
