DH and I are in charge of entertainment for this year's after prom.

Last year our school had a very popular magician, but we are also looking for some new ideas for this year.

Any ideas?

TIA

We had a casino night at the mall's food court. The equipment was borrowed from another organization. The neon lights and water fountains added to the atmosphere, so it looked better than I had expected. There were door prizes at the end to cash in chips. Pizza and snacks were included. The parents ran the whole thing. It was a closed event and no one could leave early without permission. It required a large committee and evolved over the years. The kids had fun and were able to stay out later (3:30 am??) and still be supervised. Good luck in whatever you decide!

Is there a YMCA in your town that has a pool big enough to accommodate everyone? A pool party would be cool. You could decorate it like summer with beach chairs and fake palm trees, iced tea etc

We did this, but in the field house at school. It was SO much fun! It started around midnight (prom ended at 11 and so we had time to change clothes before after-prom) and the parents organized the WHOLE thing and worked at the food booth. It ended around 5 a.m. and they had a huge raffle around 4:30. No one was let in after, I believe 12:30, and no one could leave until 5:00, but it was a great event and more fun than prom itself!

Some of my favorite things from my old after proms:

Those big blow up sumo wrestling suits. HILARIOUS. Probably my favorite.

That big blow up jungle gym thing. You attach a bungee cord to 2 people on either end and they have to run back and forth putting balls in the baskets. Utterly hilarious when 2 big jocks battle it out with each other.

Wax dipping - flowers, hands... lots of fun.

Here they rent out the Lasertron/Go Carts and have a party there. They get to play and ride for free, but pay for their own tokens to play the games. The committee does a chinese raffle for all the people attending with one groupo of tickets for each person (no way to get more so it is really even).

*DD won a stack full of gift cards for local places to eat like Arby's, Starbucks, etc. It was a great gift with her dorming. She didn't use her money at all first semester when they went out to eat or after movies.

Face painting and/or glitter tattoo artist. Seriously.
I own a small face painting business and last year my sons high school hired me for all their events and every time I had a nonstop line. Guys and girls!
The guys were always looking for tattoo style painting and the girls mostly wanted pretty, swirly, floral and bling.

Depending on where you are I may be able to recommend an artist.

I really like the casino night idea. Other themes could be Circus, Luaau (sp), Outer Space or Jungle/African Safari. Decorate a rented out hall, or reception area, have lots of finger foods, maybe a DJ and you should be good to go. :)

Good luck!

Not prom night, but graduation night our school did a "Cruise to Nowhere."

DD's after prom was at their HS, very cool but very over the top. They had an around the world theme. Lots of raffles & door prizes, a room w/blow up bounce houses, a meditation hall & rooms themed like India, casino games decorated like Vegas, remote control car races like Indy 500, lots of games all over the place, a movie theater set up in a hall, etc. Lots of choices for whatever mood kids might have been in.

:rolleyes1 Time for Cassie to take it easy on the nighttime sinus meds...

I TOTALLY had to do a double take. Thought it said "After porn entertainment ideas"......

DD went to 2 proms this year.

One post prom was held at the high school. There was a hypnotist., and a magician. There was as DD said - a whole hallway of food - including a candy bar. Don't recall what else. (DD isn't home right now -so I can't ask her.) Parents were asked to donate things (if they wanted) for the door prizes...GC's for gas, Starbucks, movie theaters etc. You did have to be present to win. Her school always has a hypnotist, and it is always a highlight of the event.

The other prom she went to had their post prom at a bowling alley. Also fun...but no candy bar;)

I also have a freind whose DD went to prom, and their post prom was at Dave and Busters. (I heard it was a lot of fun, but sorry - while I know it is a chain...I'm not familiar with this restaurant.

Dave and Buster's is like a chuck e cheese for adults. Food, video games, and lots of noise.

EWWW. No part of that sounds appealing to me - now for a bunch of highschool promgoers...might be OK.

Not a fan of Chuck E Cheese either.
