After applying for a job, how long to wait before contacting?

I emailed about a job listing I saw and was told to email my resume, which I did. It's been over a week since I emailed the resume and I'd like to know if they received and if they have had a chance to look over it. If I don't qualify or whatnot, fine. It's just helpful to know that so that I don't keep my hopes up.

So anyways how long should I wait before contacting them and asking about my application? I had to be annoying, but it's kind of frustarating not knowing.

You are safe to call now, unless the listing said no calls. If it did, then just hang in there. Some offices will throw out applications if they don't follow specific directions.

I'd only call to see if they received your resume. Not if they've reviewed it or made any decisions.

I agree; at this point I would call to verify receipt. If you get an accomodating HR person, they'll offer up the info about interviews, etc. without you having to ask.
