Affection Section at AK

We didn't have a chance to take our girls (6 and 4) last 2 trips. Has anyone been to it and is it worth the time to go to Affection Section? We do go to local places with goats, sheep, lamas etc and they love it! Any input would be appreciated!

We don't get there every time but it's cute and my son always enjoys it when we can fit it in.

We went a couple of years ago and the whole time I’m thinking “We can do this at home. Why am I spending time here?” My husband could tell that’s what I was thinking. He told me to relax that the kids were having a great time. It’s basically the petting area in a zoo. After about 10-15 minuets I got us moving again.

The 4 y.o. with us loooooved it. And yes, it's like the petting section at your zoo, probably a little cleaner. BUT. There are CMs hanging around with all kinds of interesting facts and trivia about the animals and they love to talk to guests. That sheep with no tail? Don't worry, she's supposed to look like that. So while the littles are brushing the goats, go look at that Komodo Dragon (or whatever it was.. shudder....) and listen to the CM. Seek them out, they are normally not chasing after ppl to teach them stuff. Also, randomly CMs have animals in their arms in the area (we saw a snake and a guinea pig) that the kids can learn about. It can be as boring or as interesting as you make it. We'll go again for sure.

ETA: The komodo dragon is NOT wandering around in Affection Station. There are things for non-goat-brushers to look at while the kiddos do their thing.
